Sega RingEdge? A New Sega Console in 2010 ?

Why is Sega getting back into the console wars anyway? As much as I liked the Genesis & the Dreamcast. They just had way too many failures. Sega CD, 32x, Saturn couldn't hang with the polygon power of the PS1.

Even after all those failures they still had a chance with the Dreamcast. But due to a failed launch filled with problems, bad marketing & them just totally dropping the ball,  it couldn't survive. I still play my Dreamcast, I love that Spawn game.

Anyway sega used to have some strong franchise games. Sonic used to be good & could possibly carry a system. those DC Sonic's were great games. But when is the last time you heard someone say a Sonic game was good? Unlike Sony, who has the same problems with the PS3 launch & things going on. Sony makes many other things, so they can afford to fall flat on their face in the console world a few times. What else does Sega make? Nothing. If they fail with  a new system they may put themselves into bankrupcy.

also the only flops where . . . . . .  nothing.OMG HOW CAN RAGE SAY THAT. RAGE MUST BE INSANE. Sega CD had its problems but did okay. Not good but okay. 32x was canned by Sega them self's when they released Saturn. Support drop for the 32x because it was not what was considered ture 32bit power. Saturn did poor here in the states but did really well in japan. Dreamcast ultimately died because of dumb business choices but there was a way to save it but sega opted not too so they killed they themselves also those to source could be led back to the PS2 so whom could say sony kill DC by that's partial truth.

I'm one of the few thats glad Sega is returning to the game industry.  Just don't pull not motion-natal-censor crap like your competitors.

Well it looks like a standard console prototype if you look at the prototype for the PS3. It was a box with like 10 Ethernet ports and 5 USB ports. It looked like a desktop PC on port crack.

So if it is gonna be a console the prototype looks spot on. It will get a fancy case after testing/research.

looks of a console dont matter...only performance. *looks at ps3 as compared to 360*

ps3 looks ugly.... 360 looks cool..... ps3 has high performance than the consoles......360 has good performance but has too many problems.

I would rather have an ugly system that works than a pretty piece of crap that could RR at anytime regardless of what you do.

its not a counsel its arcade hardware sega is making new games for arcades its  testing out in japan first if its any success there then it will  come to the US but i doubt it will be big over here  and also if it does then we can maybe expect a comeback for sega but its a slim chance very slim

I for one am glad Sega is trying to make a comeback. But will these ARCADE BOARDS do them any justice in this day and age? Honestly I havent seen too many arcades lately at all, in the US. When I do, they have all those same old games that everyone knows & loves. I just hope they plan on using the same graphic quality consoles are using now or better.

arcades are popular in japan 

so if they deiced a counsel release because of the success of the arcade do expect there new counsel only in japan IMO

actually most multiplatform games preform and look better on 360, that's a fact due to the ps3 gbu and coding difficulties.
the only real problem that 360 has is the rrod and it's a biggest problem imo, you can't just go buy something knowing that it will die/brick randomly no matter what

ps3 has the ylod and the common blue ray read errors problem which isn't a small one considering that it needs it's own ps3 blue ray drive, so you can't replace it easily with any other blue ray drive.

that is the new arcade board and will most likely stay in japan since america arcades are almost non existant.  Sega is not getting back into the console market because they have stated before they dont have a market for product in the console wars. they are strictly doing games only now and arcade cabinets. good move indeed.  i have had sega genesis, nintendo , super nintendo, sega dreamcast ( was the best at the time) playstation , ps2, xbox and now i have xbox 360. I dont have any problems at all with my 360. ZERO!! i have the arcade version.  plays fantastic. Ps3 i will get later but i havent fopund myself really wanting it as bad as i did the 360 because well for one it doesnt have much any games i would be motivated to buy it other then god of war 3 and naruto ninja storm and infaMOUS other than that its not enought to get me to crave the sucker. plus it was too high man!   It would be intersting to see sega jump back in the copnsole market but with the big 3 we have right now that would margine the odds of selling points for them down at the bottom.

right now we have the definitive 3 we need . one for great internet interface and games, the other is an all out entertainment machine and the other is the family console. all present something and all is pretty much good in their resepective uses. sega i dont think can afford another loss like it did with dreamcast but that machine was what the other are almost like we have today.  plus it didnt have strong 3rd party backing. without that a system is doomed. in the end for me i rather have a console that i can enjoy all my gaming i like and want  and right now 360 is my preferred console among the 3. sega just keep rolling out virtua fighter 5 quality games and we good to go. .
