It really seems like Sam Keith's art was all over the map . He never drew him exactly the same .

I wouldnt advise telling Apoc his priorities. He'll release Punisher when he's ready, and who knows he may not release him even when he is ready, he may want to wait till the game is released 1st.

Just wanted to quote you because repetition is the key to understanding, but my sentiments exactly Alexqiz.

I don't want anyone here to feel as if I'm pushing MvC Punisher down the prioirity chain because of newer endeavors. I completely understand the concern level as I've stated in conversations before. I was actually hesitiate to originally present The Maxx publically to prevent confusion and dismay amongst my other W.I.P's. Whether Punisher be my sole W.I.P or shared time between 3 or 4 other projects, his release time will not change. He will be release when ready and not a moment sooner. Theres no point in me wasting countless hours of sprite time waiting for his release before precueing other chars, but all this goes without saying that I really do appreciate the level of interest you guys all share with my work. Don't worry, "aPoC's" a well oiled machine in the spriting game and it's time to DO WORK SON!

The Maxx is a very complex character to explain . You really have to read some issues to get what's going on & even then you still may not ? His abilities kind of vary depending on what world he is in . You don't really know which is reality .

Too big ? I was tinkerring with him & went this route .....

We're getting there. I think apoc's proportions are fine, but that area where the teeth and face meet needs to come to a sharper point. DT, the shape of yours is good for a head-on view, but on this sprite it makes it look like a mustache. One of the big things to keep in mind is that the point where the teeth meet the face is flush with where his jawline should be (if he had a jawline). Both of yours have the teeth kind of dangling off to the side. As DT mentioned, Keith was very inconsistent in his drawing of Maxx, but this is one of the few features that are always present (except when viewing him head-on. Then it's got a totally different shape to it). This is gonna a be a b!tch to get right, since it's such an odd design, but it's the character's most definitive feature. I think it will be totally worth it for apoc to nail the look. My edit was pretty rough to begin with, so I'll play with it a little more tonight, as I'm sure you will too.

I convert them to an optimized 8-bit pallete before I edit them. That should take care of any color "bleeding".

UPDATE:

The more I looked, the more I realized that there's very little that's human about The Maxx's skull (he's got no freakin' ears! How did we miss that?). I totally redid his head, and added more details based on the pic I posted of him vs Wolverine. What do you all think?

He will do anything to protect the blond girl . The Maxx is male . Like alex said it's a very hard story to explain . He has the head dress ( hair ) when he goes into the other world . The story is deep & twisted , half the time the veiwer / reader doesn't no what world is real .

He did have an Action Figure in the Spawn line, but thats because all the image figures used to appear under the Spawn line. But Maxx actually made it to television before Spawn. I was actually happy with the HBO Spawn series simply because it reminded me of the Maxx.

just throwing some thoughts out there, i remember he used to taunt people by shaking his fist left to right so it looked like he was give people the finger, but he really wasnt because of that lil extra spikey part from his hand... i forgot where that was from.

The Maxx is a slow rolling W.I.P, so I wouldn't hold my breathe on seeing any major break-thru progress until 2009 in all honesty. He's the only one of my 4 W.I.P's without a playable def, if that gives you an idea of where he stands. Once MvC Punisher's out the way, expect more progress reports from this end.

As gameplay is considered, it is undertermined at this time as to what style of gameplay The Maxx will possess but I am a fan of the fast paced MvC style, and I'm thinking that will be most suitable for The Maxx.
