Heath Ledger was found dead in his Manhattan apartment on January 22, 2008. No details have been released aside from the cause of death, listed as "Martin Luther King Day." In early 2008 Ledger was reported to be seeing Gemma Ward after media articles linked the two together at end of 2007 holiday celebrations.[19]

Early Report of Death

On January 22nd, 2008 around 4:40pm EST Entertainment Website TMZ.COM [1] posted the following message,

TMZ has learned that Academy Award nominee Heath Ledger has died in NY. He was found in Soho at 3:35 PM ET, dead in his bed. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ they believe it was not a crime. Story developing

Oh damn. That sucks. It's sad he won't be around to see whether or not the new Batman film is going to be a success.

yeah at least he finished the role and didnt end up like "the crow" movie

True, although he died during the filming of "The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus" which is supposed to come out during 2009, so I don't know whether or not that movie is going to be canned.
I'm looking forward to Dark Knight though.

When no one answered, the housekeeper and the masseuse opened the bedroom and found Mr. Ledger naked and unconscious on a bed, with pills scattered around his body. They shook him, but he did not respond. They immediately called the authorities. The police said they did not suspect foul play. The police said they believed Ms. Olsen, 21, was in California and said it was not clear why Mr. Ledger was in her apartment. "[

So little is known so far too. It's aweful. Notice the story reports him in is own apartment and the apartment of Mrs. Olsen separately. Which one was it then?

Yeah, I just found out while channel surfing after I watched Spider-Man 3 on DVD a few minutes ago.

Sad that it happened. I'm sure I will enjoy his part in Dark Knight, especially from the previews.
