Street Fighter 4 Official Japan Site.
« on: January 12, 2008, 05:15:22 AM »
http://www.capcom.co.jp/sf4/

This the Official Japan SF4 site and they have confirmed one of the new characters " Crimson Viper " and I also have heard that Akuma/Gouki is going to be in the game as well and play a major role in the story.

Edit: I also have confirmation that SF4 will hit japan arcades first this year.

 Here's a translation of C.Viper's profile

Crimson Viper- Ms. Perfect
Tough and smart female agent. Always moves businesslike, yet doesn't seem to steer towards duty or humanity. Having trained her entire body as a weapon she draws forth attacks from it, certainly a menace. Secretly maneuvers in various places, her true nature wrapped in mystery.

Doesn't say too much about her, I guess we'll have to wait for more info.

At least they are making arcade versions, unlike MK.

Exactly, I'm quite glad there is gonna be a arcade version as there should be one. All the other SF games were in the arcades so this shouldn't be any different. Sf started in the arcades and I think it should be tradition to keep releasing them as such. Besides the game will get a good rinse in arcade form first which is a good test to find any broken mechanics in the gameplay before making console versions.

Edit: Somehow I doubt they will actually release it in arcades this year, but we shall see.

Well my resources told me that the console version was supposed to be released sometime by the late end of this year, So I'm guessing the arcade will hit in between July and August.

I hope so, because I'd love to see it released this year. If it's true then they are far more along in development than they were leading us to believe. I remember hearing that they weren't planning on releasing it this year, but that it wouldn't be finished till maybe 2009 or even 2010. I think that would be just too long to wait.

Well I remember a arcade version of Tekken 5 came out in arcades about nearly a year when it was released. I don't know how long it was until it came to consoles though.

Yeah, like I said they are probably going to use the arcade release as a test run to see how it fairs and let the players give it a good rinse to see if there are any bugs or if anything is broken. Of course on console though they can fix such issues with online patches. I think it's a good idea to let it stay in the arcades and get played and even maybe have a few tournaments before they release it on console.

My only beef is that parrying will not be in the game. But I'm still excited about sf4 and is awaiting any news on the complete roster.

I guess I should announce this here....Capcom is going to show off the first playable completed version of SF4 at the Japanese Games Festival AOU 2008 Expo on Feb 15th & 16th. If they are gonna show it off this early then I hope they are not rushing this project.....that could be a very bad thing IMO.

Well nobody really knows how long they started this project, maybe officially people do, but this project could have been worked on for a lot longer then last year unofficially. If they are releasing an arcade version, then that means the system version will come out around the fall-winter, like I was told. From the looks of it, they've already got a lot of things done.

Yeah, I'm figuring that they have been working on this for longer than we thought....or at least I hope this is the case and not going to be a rushed product. Back when they showed those new pics they said the game was only at 2% done......looks like that was just a lie or that was EGM just making that crap up! Well at any rate I can't wait to hear people say about it after the showing and maybe we will get more video footage and pics too  ;D
