Abyss Form 1 Updated (Nearly complete!)

-Over a year since the last update...
-Horn Throw: Complete!
-Added a throw! See commands for info
-Added a winpose
-Intro complete
-Can now walk when holding up or down
-Electric spheres improved in terms of effect
-Genesis Beam damage tweaked
-Grand Train FX tweaked: now in CvS estilo
-Added a winpose
-Now dies properly
-Defense tweaked a tiny bit to be closer to original
-Many bugs fixed
-Attack recoil points added
-Many other things. Enjoy!

While this is a good draft of the character from MVC2, there are too many pieces missing for anyone to be able to rate this character.

First, much like Onslaught in MVC1 who had two forms (and the Onslaught conversion for MUGEN by OnslaughtX includes those two forms), Abyss has three forms.. In addition, there are already at least two 3-in-1 versions of Abyss. One, of course, is by Sludge. This "first form" is a lazy conversion of what is supposed to be a 3-form boss character.

Second, this form is way too overpowered. Just like all the Shin/Mega/Uber/Ogre/Hyper/Level 8000 versions of Akuma, Ryu, and Ken that flood the release boards every now and again, this Abyss is cheap and unbalanced.

Lastly, the effects are wrong. There's a reason that the SFF and SND files are so small, many of the FX that Abyss is supposed to have in his first form are missing. I can't really recommend this character to anyone until more than 33% has been completed... and has been completed competently.

the usual good stuff in ur chars but the usual lack of umm fun? not sure how to call it but its kinda dull to fight him or as him (tough i doubt he is meant to be played as) i guess having sludge 3 in 1 version getting a 1 form is just not attractive no matter clsn boxes, speeds and sound accuracys which i bet this guy has, judging from posts and othe peeps i know in all main forums people are sticking to sludge version, not just players creators too, his so-called "inferior work" is winning the "friendly competition" mate

@? & Ricezilla: Goenitz, Vyn and Syn did exactly what is needed in a release thread, which is giving their opinion and feedback on a creation.  Comparing to another creation isn't unusual.

I see people getting off topic by questioning what other writes. Please leave feedback on what KFM has released here. That is what he'd like to hear.

Comparing to another creation doesn't make sense when they were going for two different things, regardless if it's the same character. The criticism here hasn't even been bug reports, only comparisons to Sludge's Abyss. Oh, and yes, Ironfist, I have tried Sludge's Abyss.

Anyways, that's all I'll say on that. As for feedback, I'll just say Sludge's Abyss is better than this in every way.

how would we know how to feedback if its not by comparing, 99% of feedback are based on comparisons, either to another mugen creation or to the orginal version of the caracter, i dont remember much of mvc2 abyss so i use sludge as comparison point see the logic now? my argument here is the fun factor which this abyss lacks, of course this is subjective but most of the posts ive seen go the same way

i was gonna go on the sound part but everyone has mentioned it, kfm is well aware of it by now

Besides, KFM himself even said that it was sort of a friendly competition. (with a hint of Bashing after seeing Sludges MFG thread)

Sorta Ironic he releases one after Sludges was recently released IMO.

So what do you expect, It is a comparison Issue here.

Accuracy(to a certain extent) vs Fun Factor. In this case, most are going towards the Fun Factor.

Despite all the other oh-so-helpful posts in this thread, just to point out something here...how can something accurate to the original in terms of timing, vels etc be "cheap and unbalanced"? The only main additions were a throw that requires close proximity and defense scaling that in the end doesn't give him nearly as much life as all 3 forms combined.

So you show me how he's "cheap and unbalanced" so I can gladly shoot it down.

@A lot of folks, fun fact: you play as Abyss in MvC2 via cheats, you play as each form separately. And frankly I couldn't give a hot damn if you are annoyed he is only the one form, I have little love for the other two to begin with, and up until Sludge released his I don't recall anyone pissing and moaning about it.

On topic:
Anyway, he's got another coming in a few days. I created his sphere, and I'm mapping out some additional attacks, while trying to make him more impressive. Mainly the next update will be the last one too or at least I'll try to make it that.

I'm wanting to give his hypers super portraits, but I need to wait for some things to blow over first as recent events have caused great upset in many circles and well you can figure out the rest. But the super portraits would be treated in MeltyBlood style

-Helmet flamethrower
-Majin Buu's Human Extinction (can't be exact as it'd be too much like the to-add Acid Rain hyper)
-Will o' Wisp attack using the body smoke frames that I don't like, swarming around the opponent in a lockdown attack (or maybe akin to Lenneth's finisher in Valkyrie Profile)
-Celestial Rain (also from Valkyrie Profile)
-Blade's (Warzard) mirror trap

Feel free to toss ideas. Things suggested though that won't happen:
-Throwing pieces of his armor at the opponent.
-Stretchy limbs. While it'd be neat to see him pull a Majin Buu, it'd be really out of character.

I have a lot of crap in college to endure too atm. Notably a portfolio and a 5 page paper and a presentation on AMV Hell 3 coming up. Fun fun fun!
