It's because he's a main story character, you can't have a main story character in a fighting game and not have him be cheap. It's like an unwritten rule.

What`s so cheap about Ryu in C-Groove?
I think K-Groove is the cheapest groove from cvs2,but what does that groove has that he can "make Ryu cheap"?
Besides,fight Reu`s Evil Duo and you`ll see what IS cheapness <_<|...|

Ryu isn't cheap. Just looks to me like Grant's doesn't have as god of an AI, ryu seemed to fight fair in that round.
