Its seems that since marvel has a biracial spider-man that dc has created a superman of a brown. I thought dc already had a alien with superman like powers by the name of Icon.

I don't think Icon is actualy an alien, and i don't know if he even has shown up in the New 52 yet. They first made a black superman in the late 60's, he was Sunshine Superman

But he was Pre-Crisis....

I believe DC is not copying Marvel, yet just going with the times. Nowadays, minorities are a big deal. If you don't have one, you might be called racist, sexist, etc. For example, Alan Scott of Earth-2 is now gay. Hawkgirl is in Earth-2 instead of the more obvious choice, Hawkman. It might be possible that Marvel made Miles Morales an African-Latino (is that it?) to have a minority. They deliberately and intentionally killed off Peter Parker of the Ultimate Universe and replaced him with a minority. Meanwhile DC started fresh with Earth-2. If they killed of Superman of Earth-0 (is that the name for the New 52 universe?) and replaced him with Val-Zod, then I might think they're copying Marvel, but they didn't. That's my 2 cents.

Well i don't know much about the current Earth-2 but i would guess, yes he did indeed dip into the chocolate.

My hair color is brown, if it was referred to as chocolate, I wouldn't be offended, my friend has orange hair, and has got nick names ranging from carrot top to ranga, none of which offends him, people get offended so easily when it comes to skin color, but why not hair color? Albinos are always regarded as unique in foreign cultures, to the point of them being sacrificed for body parts for weird superstitions, that's the kinda thing that happens to exotic animals, I hear this and I get offended.
but I don't upset over being called a certain color, being skin, hair, eyes whatever, its really why its said, should be the why you'd need be irate about

and yes marvel is being copied by DC, coz making traditionally Caucasian characters, and changing their skin color, is copyrighted by marvel only
(incase anyone gets that, its called sarcasm)

O0Icon is the superhero persona of Arnus aka Augustus Freeman, and member of the Terminan alien race. He crash-landed on Earth in the American South in 1839; Raised as a slave, but escaped through the Underground Railroad. After a series of events, he decided to become a Superhero and eventually joined the Justice League, after being drafted by Superman.

very ture good sir but we all have some things that we just don't like and being referred to as chocolate is one of them for me. Everyone is different with different levels of sensitivity, ethic up bringing, and over all thinking/ mindset. Our job as a people is to try and keep an open mind to most everyone and try coexisting.

there really are not to many original ideas these days. Everyone copies someone or maybe it's better to say inspired by someone.

I just looked him up. Icon hasn't appeared after the Flashpoint Reboot, yet. If they do bring him into the new 52, he will probably be on another earth then earth 0, 1, 2, or 3.

DC has done a lot of stupid things lately, once the sales start to fall, they'll get new people with talent and right themselves.

As far as I'm concerned, there is only one truly awesome Black Superman archetype-

DC isn't copying Marvel, they're just going with the current trends to avoid the media's trend of calling everyone racist/sexist/etc.

Personally, I think regardless of a character's skin color, we should be able to look up to these heroes and see ourselves being them. For instance, just because Superman is white that doesn't mean readers who aren't white can't imagine themselves as Superman.

Instead of swapping out established characters with minority equivalents, create new and interesting ones.

Good points guys. It would be nice to see dc bring back their milestone characters in either earth 2 or main universe.
