How to Remove special gauges from characters?

Like the title says I have some characters that have some crappy special gauges at the bottom of the screen and I was wondering how I would go about removing them. I know it might not be the same for every character but I would like to know how one would go about doing it.

Find sprites in sff file, follow sprites to animation, follow animation to states. If they're explods, null them. If they're helpers, turn them invisible with

type = assertspecial
trigger1 = 1
flag = invisible

You don't want to delete them if they are helpers, they may be managing features of the character that are important. If you want to stop managing those features via the bar it takes a lot more effort.
