Author Topic: Tragedy at DKR midnight premiere in denver (Read 1750 times)

A masked gunman shot dead ten people and wounded 50 others at a showing of the new Batman movie in Denver.

The 6ft tall man, dressed in black and wearing a gas mask opened fire at the showing of The Dark Knight Rises in a mall in Aurora, Colorado and set off a smoke or tear gas bomb.

Eyewitnesses said he burst through the emergency exit, wearing black clothing and body armour and slowly made his way up the stairs and firing, picking random people.

Police say one person has been arrested, but no other details were available.

A bomb squad had been sent to the theatre, NBC news reported.

Another witness said there were several children at the screening.

Local hospitals were alerted to a 'mass casualty incident.'

Hayden Miller told KUSA-TV that he was inside Theatre 16 and heard several shots.

'Like little explosions going on and shortly after that we heard people screaming,' he told the station.

Hayden said at first he thought it was part of a louder movie next door. But then he saw 'people hunched over leaving theatre.'

Police officers are taking people to hospital themselves, not waiting for ambulances.

The incident happened about 30 minutes into the screening.

Police spokeswoman Cassidee Carlson said 'the scene is still very active and we have little information for release at this time.'

Swedish Medical Center spokeswoman Nicole Williams says two people injured at the theatre have arrived at the hospital in critical condition.

She says emergency workers have said there could be several more patients.

According to local reports the gunman carried out the shooting because the new Batman movie was sold out.

Aurora is located on the outskirts of Denver, about 10 miles southeast of downtown.

Wow omg this is crazy!!!!!!!!!!! I just got back home from the midknight release of batman but now that i see this i think my days of doin it are over cus i dont want someone to copy this.

I mean what this guy did is like somethin a batman villain would do. Its stuff like this that makes me wish we had real life superheros with superpowers.....

Im just in shock!

Wow, first Heath dies before premier of Dark Knight and now this.

They are saying this loony did this because of sold out tickets?!?! I don't know that just seems to hard to believe seeing has he didn't just go in with a gun but with body armor,gas mask,and smoke/tear bomb also news says this guy just dropped out of med school and they found explosives all around his house.

Prayers goes out to the 10 people that lost their lives, the 50 or more people who are injured and their families.

Even if that was the case why didn't he just kill the ticket vendor, why kill the innocent movie goers?

That sounds like a jump to conclusions excuse. The guy had to save up big for this.
He had:
Professional grade Body Armor
Professional Gas Mask
Tear Gas Bombs
Ballistic Helmet
Ballistic Leggings
Groin Protector
Throat Protector
2 .40 cal Glocks
AR 15 Semi-Auto Rifle
12 Gauge Remmington Shotgun

That is a long, planned attack. I'll bet he planned this long before the movie.

That plus cops found lots of incendiary and chemical devices wired up with trip wires. theyve evacuated the 5 nearest buildings and are trying to work through it even now and apparently he told the cops he was the joker when he was arrested.

Personally, I think that is a "I am insane, and motivated by this movie, so my sentence should be different" type of thing. Similar to a girl who claimed she killed her brother "Mortal Kombat style", but it ended up she didn't quite know what she was talking about.

Man i woke up this morning walk in the living room around 7 am, cut on the news and .... WTF??..

mann this sh*t is really ridiculous. He did those folks dirty in the theater. what upset me even more was he bodied a 6 yr old...SMDH....

Its amazes how you can just walk in a store and say "hey can i get your AR 15?...."....Cashier says "sure^^ cash or charge sir?"...

People is getting crazy lately, but this just reach a new level, the dude that did this was in the honor roll in the University of Colorado medical school. He was one of the candidates for a Ph.D. in Neuroscience.

All the things he did were planned, he hid a gun inside the theater the night before all this happen. And he used a lot of weapons and gadgets to shot 71 people.

After you saw this in the news the first thing that come to you is "This is the work of a crazy bastard" or "this guy is a nobody that wanted his 15 mins of fame"

But that s not the case, this guys throw away his whole life for this. His whole life died in that theater too.

Why the hell he did all this??

You know what makes it even worse, he claimed he was The Joker when they picked him up. He surrendered at his car without a fight, and told them his apartment was rigged to blow, trips and everything. Explosives were confirmed at his apartment and to date still haven't been disarmed

Makes me wonder if this idoit was somehow involved with the RLSV comunity. Lots of idots on youtube playing wannabe joker. How someone could really go out there and do this is horable.
Even had his home boobytraped to take out the whole aprtment building in a firebomb ment to kill police and everyone and draw attiention so he could have killed for longer....
