China builds its own Eiffel Tower

They say Rome wasn't built in a day but the Chinese have recreated Paris in not much longer.

China, is known for their knock-off products but the country has taken it to a whole new level, recreating cities to give families a taste of European life without leaving home.

Chinese architects copied the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe and the famous fountain in the gardens of the Palace of Versaille to make their own version of the French capital.

Famous buildings and Parisienne style gardens are surrounded by rows of European-style villas where up to 100,000 Chinese people will live in a special gated community called Tianducheng just outside Shanghai.

Two thousand people have already moved into the complex near Hangzhou which opened in June after five years of landscaping.

Tianducheng's Eiffel Tower is 108 metres high.

Tianducheng is the latest in a growing line of housing communities designed to evoke the charm and lifestyle of old European cities.

Thames Town, an hour's drive from Shanghai's skyscrapers, features Georgian and Victorian-style terraced houses, and caused a minor uproar after English publican Gail Caddy accused it of replicating her pub and fish-and-chip shop in Lyme Regis, England.

My guess is China is going to recreate each major country tourist attraction to get even more tourists, it's good for business.  My guess is since they have rebuilt a french masterpiece, they're next objective is to rebuild the statue of liberty. Either that or they are going to rebuild the sphinx, or a pyramid. My guess this is China's way of proving that they can have anything any other country has.
