Out of curosity, how many M.U.G.E.N. 1.0 users we have here?
« on: August 21, 2010, 10:29:32 AM »
I just switched to 1.0 and so far its handling my works and crazy coding very well.
Still My current wip, Strider will have winmugen style coding because I know everyone hasn't updated yet and I would like for my character to benefit both winmugen and 1.0 users.

So this made me as the question, who uses what and why if I may ask.

BTW this thread is not to promote flames or forcing opinions on others. I am just curous to know and for my future works, this will better help me to decide if I will continue to support both or stick with one engine.

do you run it at standard res? the same res as winmugen?
If not give it a try.

But still I'm not forcing you to try it.
The thing I fear is users who enjoy what I make will miss out if i go completely 1.0 but so far using standard winmugen coding everything is working fine, character wise.

But my interactive stages, they will not work, I am aware of the new stage id trigger and I have yer to experiment with it. I hope its just a matter of replacing one or two triggers but still it's in the air.

Anyway I am experimenting with both. I havent made the decision to go strictly one engine yet.

My main is WM but I have a 1.0, and as soon as it is out of RC, I am switching permanently. It has some nice stuff, and all it needs is to fix the bugs, and add Hi-Res support, and there won't be much need for WM anymore.

BTW, with each new RC it takes less memory, because they are working on bringing down the memory usage.

I can honestly say that alot of the bugs are fixed. and as far as hi res support, it supported it since the very first rc.
hi res title, select, vs, etc. screens. If that engine can support my kind of works then its suitable and to me it feels better than winmugen.

I don't like the wide-screen feature. alot of works looks really ugly with that feature at use, I stayed and the standard 640x480 res.

That is what I meant by Hi-Res. I only went back to WM because of my VS screen.

I still dont understand.
Winmugen only supports hi res select screens.
1.0 supports everything in high res.

I wanted to switch. But I simply couldn't find a screen pack I like.

Heck, I don't even use plus cause of how attached to broken mugen I am. (can anyone reccomend one?)

I switch to the R.C Mugen because they finally fixed the music crash issue where in Winmugen I kept getting that, but I play the standard 640x480 res.

I run it on standard Res and it works fine for me, running High Res sometimes lags, so I dont use Plus, Hi-Res or nothin like that, only standard winmugen.

Though if you are going for full 1.0, I would suggest you make a winmugen and 1.0 version. It shouldn't be that hard...i think because I've not used 1.0 in a while so I don't know anything about it.

When I used it, yes, they did. (Hell, even KONG's charecters worked on it.)

Also, there this guide: http://elecbyte.com/wiki/index.php/Updating_to_1.0

I still want to know what screenpacks I can run on the thing. Do Mugen plus ones work?

there is a line called local cords for screenpacks. You just have to adjust it to 640x480.

Just to clear this up again, this thread was meant for me, and others, to see who all actually use 1.0.
I wanted to see how my works handles in it and I was impressed and there are noticeable fixes that are not present in the winmugen build.

But still whatever mugen you are comfortable with, continue to use that.
I am not forcing anyone to switch.

Why not add a poll, Syn?

I haven't switched over yet. New features look cool but I'm waiting for 99% compatibility with old chars and stages, which may or may not happen.  :(|)

Nah no poll needed, the thread is serving its purpose by itself and besides I rather that ppl post then just some random guy voting and not posting at all.

Well you already know I still use WinMugen. But I'm considering moving over to soon. Testing 1.1 has convinced me quite a bit, but I won't be satisfied until they support high resolution select screens and fix a few other issues. I put too much work into making my select screen high resolution to just downgrade.

I still use WinMugen, because I just don't see a reseason to switch at all to 1.0. Is there anything special about it that is making more people switch over?

i mean if u want the whole hi res thing happening and less errors and more bugs fixed i guess its a cool move.
My winmugen ive been using for ages is a walking frankenstein. i got different parts and plug ins from 2006 that people done tweaked or made better. so mines rarely crashes. its just not in Pretty Hi res.

I tried the new Mugen at about RC7. It was nice and all but I just didn't have a reason to switch. Then some screenpacks came out,  HLoaders' 640x480 screenpack.... and I switched.

Every stage (hi-res) that I've tried works great, same goes for characters. However, I do agree with you, I don't like widescreen. The characters look ugly and the lifebars appear too low. The fact that low-res screenpacks work is also a plus, I get to keep my old ones.

While my pc may be 4 years old, it seems to handle every-res perfectly. Plus, no crashes is always a good thing.
