Yea.. when I heard there would only be 30 i was like.. whhhaaaatttt.... but hopefully they at least get a straight 50 in.. that would be very good!

i don't want  an unbalanced mess like mvc2 so i hope cacpom learned their lesson. super street fighter 4 has quite a few characters so i'm hoping they can balance it out in mvc3 like they did in ssf4 [-O<

Well the box selecs show 7 down instead of 6. my bad. but can you see he potential for more character? If its only 30 then uuuhg but i will still get it and i can see that there is a large amount of peeps they can add in for DLC. which i truly believe and think is the way its gonna pan out. especially they will add more over a period of time. well count the spaces for yourself and see how many exactly they could possibly use. enjoy :thumbsup:

If you count one square over from morrigan and iron man side and go up and down over again its actually 42 squares and they arent that obscure.

I hope that's not the total i would like as much chars as mvc2 had to offer.
But 40+ Isn't that bad considering the time it takes to create each character compared to mvc2 and it's 2-d sprites.

If that is the permanent roster set up, I doubt those boxes will be used, way too high and...curved...doesn't look right.

I don't see why everyone thinks that 30 is a tiny number.  Brawl, which has a HUGE roster, has 35... and remember, MvC1 had only a few playable characters, and that one was still awesome.

But huge rosters can be a problem.  MvC2 was unbalanced, but it got off easy in that at least all the characters were FUN.  However, if you look at Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, which has 60 characters, all of the characters are unbalanced, have little defining features, and overall have no personality or character differences whatsoever.  It feels like 60 of the same character with different special moves.

There's always DLC and unlockable characters, so you may never know since the final roster hasn't been confirmed yet. :-??

Hey take a look at this, see how the boxes are with ken on his side and blackhear on their side, even tho its a globe and they are on the more rounded part of the selector they still are viewable. So i think with the cube style they have for MVC3 is way more possible and wont look all crazy. lol
I mean i am not worried how they gonna look on the lil box selects anywa. i am in it for the characters themselves so the art of the icon doesnt readily interest me in the least. but i say this it would be a nice lil touch up in it if they was worried about such stuff.

As for the amount of characters, the more the merrier! means more mastering characters and their different playstyles, more character teamups , longer replay value . Just gimmie more and i will be pleased long as they not crappy characters and if so some do get in make em so different that i wont care. Now onto balancing .Every fighting game is unbalanced. always have and always will be . I would not think a Boss character should dish out the same damage as every characterin the game, every fighter is different so that is why there is difference in hit points. your speedy guy should not dish out a huge amount of health in tinier attacks than a grappler. grapplers do more damamge in one or a few hit the a person/character that is a speedster and has to do more quick hits to equal the amount of damamge the grappler does. its like kinda physics. Ok better example of hit point and health damage: Boxing.  Super heavyweight ( boss /God ) vs a light heavy weight boxer. Ones bigger and punch strength is much stronger but may move slower vs the smaller boxer who is faster and quicker and hit very good but his punching power is not on the same level as the super heavyweight. thats how fighting games work in essence and i can understand that is how it applies in kinda  any fighting game as it should be.  speedster, less damage but more hits, slower but stronger, more damage /less hits. if every characer in games were like ryu i would hate them, no depth and competativeness would suck. the entire basis is to overcome your handicap in the fight. .. and uhh sorry for all the physics dialog.  ;D

I think the roster we see on that video will be the starter. And I think they'll pull a MvC2 with downloadable content with microsoft points & sony points.

True, but some of us don't take that into consideration. Capcom also stated not to expect a fan favorite, and they usually put it in. But I'm just saying, it's a possibility we might get more if not, I'm happy with what we got.

yeah so far i am very happy with what we got but we still have alot more on the way and thats not even the inluding of any secret characters in the game. Capcom always throwing something in the pot then what people expected. As for the whole character select screen, i was just looking and thinking of possibilities rather than believing that is actually gonna be the final product. ya never know with capcom. i mean it could be 40 playable and 20 unlocables, 10 downloadables and 3 secret characters. who knows but it is fun to guess, just dont get ya hopes up too high and set yourself up for a let down. I am fine so far in their choices and cant wait to see who are the new challengers getting shown. :w00t: :w00t:

Just letting you guys know I was @ the fightclub and got to play I was #11 in line and got to play MvC3 yesterday. Got to hang out with s-kill some . had him sign my copy of ssf4. Teams I used was ironman/Thor/dormammu, wolverine/Dante/Thor, wolverine/Dante/hulk, wolverine/hulk/Thor.
    Ironmans rush down has been nerfed since the evo build. Dormammu moves really slow and gets rushed down for free. Dorms setups may take a while to learn and exploit but no one was doing well with him. Thors damage out put does make up for his lack of mobility nicely. His upward Thor strike assist had me locking fools down in the corner all night. Dante is truly a versatile character and can really b played however you choose to. I will say that his capcommando assist is better than capcoms ever was because the pillar stays there the whole time he's out (2-3 secs). I didn't use ammy but her fullscreen super is gdlk you really have to watch what your doing when she has meter. I saw a coupl people use v Joe and his slow move lasts a really long time and doesn't count down unless the char that it was done to is on point. Doom rocks are as wack as they ever were like 90% of ppl had him on there team his assist is that good. Wolverine I kept on point because he was legit in this game nice reach on his normals good mixups and safe drill claws and dive kicks give him a whole lotta punch. And deadpools keepaway just to let you guys know is the best keepaway in any fighting game ever. His guns startup and recovery is sonic boom like and fills the screen like a viper beam. So expect to make countering that your first priority because I see that being spammed online already. I racked up a 6 win streak before ppl started whining about how I should move so the line could go faster. I did make sure I was on the setup that was hooked into the projector so I could blow ppl up in the most evil of ways lol. The game looks like eye porn thigh in real life it's just sexy.

    All in all it was a great night they gave us some shotglasses a t shirt a month of digital comics and free pizza and drinks all night to come out and play that marvel. If they ever do one in your town GO!!!!!!!

Yes the combat system the buttons and all that are completely different so you cant really approach it like mvc2 but the concepts systems and all that are very mvc2 in the same vein.

As far as the balance approach goes Im gonna say that this game Is a lot more balanced in that every character is powerful. I will say that low level play or any kinda play will be dominated by Deadpool for a long time his keepaway is too strong and hes no slouch up close either. Chris was looking kind of weak but ive been hearing that for the last couple builds. All in all its accessible i saw a couple first time players body folks with simple mode. Its pretty ,Its fast, its interesting, and most of all its hype. Its MAHVEL BAYBEEE!!!!!
