Is Akuma/Gouki really evil?
« on: July 22, 2009, 03:48:35 PM »
I look at gouki more as an anti-hero
with his own intentions
but he has hero like qualities for killing m.bison
and villian like qualities for killing gouken
so what do you think?

He's a villain who only looks out for himself. He's not the type to kill Bison in order to save the world, he's just fighting to become more powerful.

All he wants is to fight a worthly opponent.  :-??

I don't think he is evil because in the cross over games, he was fighting on the side of good most of the time. But then again............He let himself get consumed by the dark hadou.....yea he is evil because he let himself do that.

Well, As said
no, he's not EVIL in the exact sense.
He merely fights people he deems worthy(while he fights at about 50%)
and if there strong enough
he shows them his full power "Shin" (meaning "True") Akuma/Gouki
which as we have seen
is more then enough to f*** s*** up.
(Go watch his CFJ ending.)
He's controls His Dark Hadou
He doesn't Let it control him.
Except for CVS2's Version of Shin Akuma which is Akuma + Rugal's "dark power"
which makes him evil and crazy.
that's about it though.

^^(PM)^ very true. he isnt exactly evil but he isnt exactly good and as you go deeper into his true story he actually saved more ppl than hes killed which kinda makes him an anti-hero because he does good and bad

I would classify him as evil.. I mean.. even the movies and the games classify him as evil... Would I say that he COULD become a hero? Yes. But that's only if he starts looking out for someone other than himself...

Very true. He plays both sides of the field so I wouldn't go so far as to say he's completely evil. Akuma is unique that way.

Gouki/Akuma is the vegeta, spawn,Tyler Durden of the shoto's world not good or evil just doing what ever is going to be in his best interest be it saving the world so he wont die or killing the good guy to test/gain power(and vice versa) get in his way and he will destroy you leave him alone and there is no problem. Using the Dark hado does not make him evil he just embraced it because he knew it would take him past his limits and make him strongers(like vegeta did with babidi magic) and considering that his fighting style(Ansatsuken) was used for killing anyways it just made him better at it

so as black ice put it

Its called being neutral!

I'd say he's evil. The guy has been known to blow up submarines and whole islands for basically no reason.  :-??

Especially when I try to fight him with Sentry (Darn!)

But yeah he's pretty much on both sides of the playing field, whether it's good or evil, he uses it to his advantage somehow.

actually akuma couldn't control the dark hadou, he was taken over and controlled by it cus he wasn't able to control it till later when he became what he is now, ryu is trying to keep away from that in order not to end up like akuma and akuma is out to make himself stronger while influencing ryu to use the dark hadou.

Akuma/Gouken is under the evil intent dark hadou instead of the fighting style of ansatsuken ken ryu gouken etc use without the killing intent and akuma/gouki simply killed bison because he saw bison as someone strong so he killed him and also he killed his brother gouken because if he fights anyone if they are unworthy then he will not bother to continue once he realizes but if its an opponent he is fighting that is stronger or is equal to his strengths then he will try and defeat them by killing them in his eyes there can only be 1 master

First, Akuma doesn't just fight anyone. All the time he fights, he intend on fighting to the death, so if he sees that the person is weak or have any kind of disadvantage, he will simply ignore the person and leave him alone. That's why he stopped his fight against Gen, once he discovered that he had a terminal disease.

Second, he is a person who thirsts for power. Power is the only thing who matters for him, nothing else. He won't stop until he gets unlimited power. And if someone stoods against him to stop him, he will kill him mercilessly, no matter if he is weak or strong. That's why he "killed" Gouken (but Gouken was lucky enough to have a Geese-like ressurrection).

I would classify him as an anti-villain: he isn't really evil, for he thinks what he is doing is right, but his attitudes ARE evil.
