avi problems

if anybody can help me out that would be nice...ok so here's the problem
everytime i try to put an avi file in to my insignia player a message puts up...

the file etc.avi has one or more properties outside of the device
limits.use a media program that can convert the file before you copying
it.

and i do convert it first before i put the file in but that message shows up again. any ideas....
