AIR
« on: March 15, 2009, 03:22:26 AM »
Every time I download a char it doesn't work, so I took a look at the problem and the air is an install package for adobe. So I open it and it says -
              Sorry, an error has occurred
The application could not be installed because the AIR file is damaged. Try obtaining a new AIR file from the application author.
... plz help
I tried downloading a whole bunch of different chars and the same thing happens and i tried reinstalling adobe.

I think the problem is your computer.
Air files should not be opend with adobe.
You shouldnt even try to.

Download something off of infinity's main site or off of my website and see if it works in your mugen.
You may not be instaling them correctly if anything from their or my site dosnt work for you.

Air files can be opened by notepad or fighter factory.

You can always try uninstalling Adobe.  :P

Btw, the correct char installation is...

1.Download the char.
2.Unzip it with WinRar or 7zip for example.
3.Open your "  MUGEN  " folder.
4.Make a new folder and name it "  chars  ".
5.Copy and paste your char folder in your "  chars  " folder.
6.Close it.
7.Open your "  data  " folder.
8.Open your "  select.def  " file.
9.Type the THE CORRECT NAME OF THE CHAR or else it won't work.
10.Save it.
11.Open your "  MUGEN.exe  " and enjoy.
  :)
I love cheap chars, got any cheap char? Send it to me.
Special Thanks to Twon for my beautiful avy and Twon & shulbocka for the siggies.

You've installed the AIR runtime?

for reference:

You can name the files containing the animations with any extension. You can change the file to _______.txt and change the line from:

_________.air to __________.txt in the characters .def file.

You can drag and drop the file onto your text editor or change the filetype associations on the file.

Mugen should be able to parse the AIR files regardless of the program association. You should only have problems if you are trying to edit the file, and not when you are moving the file.

You need to change your file-extension association.

AIR is a registered extension of an Adobe Runtime.

It isn't an AIR installer, it just has the file extension as one (.air) .

I'm not sure on that either.. I was actually wondering the same thing.. but how I got rid of it was..

Right click > Open With > Choose Program > Click Notepad > Click "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file"

Then everytime you click on it, it should open with notepad.. as for the adobe thing.. I honestly have no clue.. Just ignore it being an installer package.. :-??

Hope this helps.. at all..

 :)
