I dont think anyone would buy the franchise. Midway is just digging MK into the grave even more after each release. So I doubt it will be picked up by anyone.

ugh. that would be horrible if capcom bought it. i wish marvel would or even DC would buy it. then again that would be worse than if capcom did. idk. I just hate the thought of capcom ruining it

I think Ubisoft or Activision should buy it They have good IP's in every genre except fighting (unless you count naruto) and seeing how HDR and SF4 are showing that the market is there i think a major player like one of those two should buy it. Other wise id say Epic Games, Gears an UT kinda have the same bloody, gory, dark, extreme tone so it would definitely fit into there model i mean midway even published UT3

.. Midway should've thought about that when they made the MKvsDC game.. what a terrible choice of matchups... I swear to you... if they would've made MKvsSF game series.. they would've made trillions! TRILLIONS!

MK Vs. DC was a smart idea. Better than MK Vs. SF, because of the popularity of the characters.

If anyone buy MK, i expect will not to be a japanese company or EA.

I agree, it would be a great purchase for the Capcom Company. Then you'd have a really good MK game (although I thought DC vs MK was pretty cool.)

Then when someday Nintendo makes a deal with Capcom to have Megaman in Super Smash Brothers (crossing my fingers) then we can have Sub-Zero too.

of course someone will by it thats a billon dollar franchise and very popular dont forget a company did by fallout and that game is not as known as mk.

also mk vs dc was very successful it sold more then midway thought it would just not enough to save midway.

Why? Rare and Midway have made a fighting game before in the past, 2 Actually. You know what they were? Killer Instinct 1 and 2. And if they DID buy MK, They could, But most unlikely make a *Yes, I will say it.* MKvsKI.

Besides, I dont see how Capcom could take up the MK series without making a Mortal Kombat 2 Champion edition. *shot*

As for other companies, I really have no clue who else could buy MK.

True. I've always wanted a Shaolin Monks 2, and well capcom knows how to make hack/slashers.

As for Rare, they need to get out another Killer Instinct. Also Rare is with Microsoft and I only play fighting games on ps3. Only exception was DOA3 and DOA4 (although I'd much prefer them on sony's systems).

It's pretty sad to see MK go out like this. At least they managed to get out 1 crossover.

On the other hand, it looks like Japan's Square Enix is buying out Eidos. I wonder what they'll do to the Hitman series.. Reboot it perhaps?

To be honest and it may sound cruel, but I really don't care....I say good riddance to the MK series. It was never a real fighter to begin with and never was. It never had real gameplay and is one of the most pathetic franchises out there. I hope this means we never have to see another awful MK game again. Midway isn't good at making games anyway, they have no talent and have been dying off for years. MK is all they really have and without it they are finished as a company. They were fools to think they could ever compete with Capcom or Namco. With each new MK they were digging themselves a deeper grave. This was bound to happen sooner or later, I saw it all coming. Even if they don't sell it now, they will eventually as it was always a dying series. Maybe now people will finally move on to real fighters with real gameplay. Sorry if I offended anyone, but it's just my personal opinion and I have been there since it all started.

They could make plenty of money if they just go back to their roots. Perhaps an MK2 remake in 3D is in order? Or even an MK1 remake with more characters... After all, those WERE the most popular games in the series.
