However there is also 2.5D Fighting games!

Street Fighter III : 3rd strike
Fighting was way better compared to all of the SFIIs, game mechanics are awesome, cool soundtrack.

Naw, your right, those are 3D, 2D or "2.5D" is when the camera is locked so you can only see 2 demensions, in those 2 games you see all 3!

Just want to toss in the Soul Calibur series as my main 3D fighter series...I think its the best along with the Virtua Fighter series.

Darlkstalkers and GG are great fighters, but they just can't compete with the juggernauts of fighting games, same goes for ALL Snk games! And as for a 3D fighting games go, Tekken is the king!

I think a big gripe with SFA3 is the A-ism. it mostly seems to degenerate into people learning the longest strings and doing them over and over again. most of the people I talk to seem to prefer some japanese incarnation of SFA2.

personally I prefer SFA3 because it has more characters, and I'm more of a casual player who enjoys the variety than I am a hardcore gamer who notices changes in ticks and priorities and stuff.
