i didnt say we shouldnt end the war.  i think we should.  im trying to say that americans arent the only reason people are dying in iraq (dennis hinted at what im talking about).  you seem to think that as soon as we're out things turn to smiles and sunshine.  i think iraq needs major help.  i dont think what were doing right now is good enough.  i dont think an army can provide the help iraq needs.  but i dont know what can. and i wont pretend like i do. 

Well thats not our problem for one.  America shouldnt be tyring to fix the problems of other countries when they cant even fix their own.  We should pull the troops out and let them deal with it themselves but thats not gonna happen under republicans cause all they care about is how they benefit from all this. 

If the death tolls of all those souls out there who were victims of this war or were caught in the crossfire isnt enough, look at how messed up the economy is becase of it.  This country is gonna be f*cked even more than it already is.

I think Acey was trying to say that, before we bash this war and talk about what our troops are going thru...we should actually find out how our troops feel about everything that's happening. I found, that within the troops, it's just like it is here, mixed. Some are proud to represent and are willing to stay as long as it takes to get order, and then there are some who are just sick of the fighting. All I know is, people are dying by the hundreds over there...men, women, and children. It's a damn massacre.

There have been scandals about American troops torturing prisoners and civilians, including women and chidren. It wouldn't be surprising though. You ever heard of My Lai back in Vietnam?

 You know, having been to Fallujah  from July of 2005 to January of 2006 with an Marine Infintry unit I got a pretty good taste of life out there and got to see how they see America overall. For the most part they dont hate us, hell the terrorist cells out there at the time where either mercenarys from Chechnia, Afganistan, Egypt or Syria. As for the few "ground" guys doing the runing and gunning on us, they were 8 year old kids who didnt know any better....hell there was a guy giving them money to throw these "rocks"(grenades) in the back of our humvees. The ones who really did shoot at us and curse us out besides the ones the  mercenarys persuiaded to not talk to us where colledge kids who felt we were the enemy. Now as for us being there for our own agenda, yeah its true from ive seen but I feel personaly we are making a positive impact for the future of that place at the same time, its not gonna be a quick fix and well be there for a very long time....but Ill go back and everyone whos signed up with some common sense of the worlds view on America will say the same thing. Now do I want to? not really, but I will...its what I get paid for so other people dont have to (a draft)


The millitary isnt for everybody, I know of guys who figured that out real quick. If its really too intense there not gonna keep you in anyway, They record every little movement you make before and after a deployment, its the guys who dont say anything and try to be tough after going through some serious crap that get crazy with PTSD. we all get some degree of it out there ture, but it helps to talk to people about the stuff youve seen.... anyway, I think the party system needs to go, I dont give a f**k what animal or plant or whatever you are when it comes to being President; My Boss, I want to belive in what you have to say because your the voice of the nation Im laying my life on the line for...

Well, there are positive and negative aspects about all you said. It's a good thing that the U.S. Army is made of professionals instead of draftees. And yes, I agree with you that not every civilian out there hates you. It's those college guys and mercenaries which make things a living hell for the Americans. Nevertheless, not all American troops are decent men. As I said in my previous post, there have been scandals about soldiers torturing prisoners and civilians.
The problem is that you seem kinda blinded with what the President says. "I want to belive in what you have to say because your the voice of the nation Im laying my life on the line for..." --- It's a reasonable feeling, but how do you feel against President Bush? Everybody knows America doesn't really care about the Middle East freedom, it's just Americans want to get leaders which have a friendly commercial policy with them so they still get petrol supplies.
It's alright to be loyal to the government (I know the U.S. Navy's motto is "Semper Fidelis"), but loyalty is always bad in the wrong hands.

No offense taken Semper Fidelis (Always Faithful)  is actualy the Marines motto while the Navys is Semper Fortis (Always Courageous). Im actualy a Corpsmen in the Navy so both attituteds I would like to think rub off on me...Like you said not all american troops are good people but when your there personaly I just wanted to help them not make things worse. theres good and evil in all men I wanna belive theres just more good out there even if it gets misguided and used for evil ways. As for my views on Bush, Hes....wel it seems not all there. Even his cabnet has pretty much left him and thats never a good sign. Were always reminded not to talk too much ill will towards the president being that we represent him and the rest of the country so the three topics most people stay away from is who owes you money, religon and politics because with either of them your going to tick somebody off and get into a fight. With Bush though, I think I can sum it up with him on this saying: Its been real, its been fun, but it hasnt been real fun.

Thank you, but honestly I joined for selfish reasons. Turns out things didnt go as I really wanted and ended up becoming a "Doc" with the marines. Its funny because I ended up enjoying the comradery and excitement of the Corps. I dont see any reason not to keep being in because of it.In the end itll make for some (more) great stories of when things were just a bit crazy in the world and how I saved a few lives in the process.

First, sorry about mixing up the mottos. Second, well I guess joining the Armed Forces for personal reasons isn't really a sin... remember I talked about professional soldiers who are just doing their job, I don't really see anything wrong with that. It's also understandable that soldiers are told not to talk too much s*** about the government, after all they chose to join the armed forces on free will. I hope this war ends up soon so Americans can return home, but it seems they'll have to wait some more time. I saw on the CNN Bush said "I leave to my successor the responsibility of endind the war."
