snk was always the underdog its a shame that they dont have the popularity or are as stable as capcom because if they were then they both would be still goin head 2 head till this day...

Very informative vids. SNK really made an image for itself back in the days. Those ads in EGM and Gamepro were real powerful, 'cuz you couldn't help but feel like your Nintendo wasn't living up to true hardcore gaming in the 90's lol. I tried to save up for one in high school when I was still a big World Heroes and Samurai Shodown fan, and raised $200 in 6 months. Unfortunately I couldn't hold out for the next $400, so I bought a Sega Genesis instead  :DxDie . I only knew one guy who had the loot (i.e. well paying job to get the loot) for a Neo Geo (both the original system and the CD system), so me and my friends would drop by to play whatever latest games he got. Pretty powerful system, you feel like you're playing the actual arcade game at home. Joysticks are big, though.

Glad that SNK managed to hang in there after bankrupcy and come back as SNK Playmore. Even though I don't play SNK games like the way I used to, I still give respects 'cuz SNK did bring a hardcore gaming image to the gaming scene, plus gave you alternatives from the mainstream stuff  ::salute:: .

I remember wanting a Neo Geo. I wanted to get it just so I could play Samurai Showdown just like the arcade. Showdown came out on Genesis & it was lacking something. Then the 3do came out & that version of Samurai Showdown was pretty nice. Almost an arcade perfect translation. World heroes & any of those other SNK games never really got my attention. So I forgot all about the Neo Geo. Once I became interested in all those older non capcom fighting games later on. They were either ported to the newer systems, or I could just play them on an emulator. I am also glad that SNK hung in there, as they have made some great games over the years

Indeed its very cool to know they have come a long way and survived. For fighting games that company was my 2nd fav in that genre. As for the system one of my close friends i grew up with had the CD system with that d@mn jugglin monkey with the hella long loadin time sequences 8=| lol. But i remember my pops gettin all hyped up over the commercial and was like "Hey !! i like that system do you want that for christmas?? :cool"

now as big of a video game nut i was as a kid and liked those art of fighting games i just looked at my pops like "  <_<|...|   :| dad please it aint happening"....he says why? :(|)

i said cuz i know im only gettin one game even IF that did magically happen

"A game" is abut 400 bucks
A D@mn memory card to save my games is 150 bucks

all my pops did was.... /:O ???

Yeah, after 6 months of saving up that too popped up in my head.

1) 1 & 1/2 years to buy the system
2) 1 year to buy 1 game ( /:O )
3) about half a year to get a memory card

By the time I'd get a decent collection of games that money could've went to more important stuff, like school tuition or rent money when I moved outta my parents house. Glad I went with the Sega Genesis, really  ;D
