During some parts of the movie, I kept getting reminded how close of a resemblance it came to HALO.

Get rid of the main character with Master Chief, change the blue aliens with the covenant and make pandora halo..

Bring on the pain...

@thread, wow. Flaming each other over a movie that was only designed to test new technology? Come on now.

anyways I'm not at all interested in the movie. If it's by the same maker as the game (it is.) then the movie is gonna be just as bad. It's starting to get on my nerves that Ubisoft and James Cameron are hyping Avatar so much. between the movie and the game its annoying.

But for those people who did watch it and enjoyed it, at least you got your monies worth and that's all that matters. Not everyone is gonna like the same thing. It's a fact of life. Otherwise life would be boring as hell. So if you like it, then you like it. if you hate well then you hate it. Don't bash each other over it. You can have opinions just try to keep it civil :).

@Ohsky I  agree with spidermew m8. Reading your posts does seem like you are directly attacking people who liked the film. But that's neither here or there.

But besides the story, was the CG and FX pretty good?

Also to people who mistook it for the anime, I thought it was at first to.

Go see this movie. Go see it in IMAX with the 3D. Its not like other 3d movies where they throw things at your face to show off the effects. The 3D gave everything a sence of perspective, and made the whole thing real.

It is a really good movie. Its Epic. Go, go now and see it in 3D, its quite an exprence.

yeh its funny u said that me and the fellaz rollin sat to see it at IMAX

I'm not seeing it... The Aliens in Halo had technology far superior to the humans. The aliens in Avatar were blue 10 feet tall Indians that used bows and arrows.

The story isn't original, but the way it was told was much better then a lot of the previous attempts.

I'm still not seeing it. The only resemblance's I noticed were the aliens referring to humans as demons, and the aircraft that the humans were piloting. The rest well... The covenant invaded Earth first. Honestly I find more resemblance to Capcom's Lost Planet then I do with Halo.

VK, I was being sarcastic in my quote..

I meant it as to James Cameron would of had a better movie if it was halo than the whole avatar thing.

yO this movie was freakin dope for realz man =D>. Totally enjoyed it. Huge crowd and it got an applause at the end.
Me and my friends went. We did the 3D glasses thing. The specs were actually cool and not goofy lookin haha.
They were all black.

Anyway the IMax Version was sold out like crazy up till 1230 am sunday. we went sat evenin.
Since it was sold out we did 3D and haha it was hella cool. But i wanna go back and experience the official I Max situation.

I jumped a couple times on a funny note blinkin cuz certain objects just wizzzed at the screen and it was like perfect timing cuz forget that its 3D while u gettin into it.

Great movie. Go see it! :w00t:

That is why I will not be seeing this movie.

Maybe if they gave it a plot that hasen't been used a thousand times I woulda, but this is Meh.

At the end of the day its a cool family flick. They cursed a few times but from the action and special effects youll enjoy it if you are into sci fi. Dunno what the heck they were taking about with the over the top special effects but the 3D glasses made it fun.

If anything the CG was just as cool as District 9. Last mind blowin special effects i was impressed with was Final Fantasy
spirits within. The movie was trash to me as sorta a FF fan but the CG was crazy. Well That and The curious Case of Benjamin button if i remember right. The old dude was basically CG which stunned me...

Avatar was just another cool looking flick with a lil messege with it :-??

BUT! Halo needs to be next like that though seriously i agree :D. haha even Gears of War :w00t:

I saw this movie in 3d. god, even the SUBTITLES were in 3d! crap was distracting. maybe it was just because I was sitting in the front row, but every few seconds I was flinching because I thought I was gonna get hit in the face with a file cabinet or something.

Well I can see why the plot seems so old and out of place because the story was made 10 years ago. We only had the technology to make this movie 5 years ago. The only problem was that the plot needed some work on it. I have only seen the movie in 2D and I plan on watching the 3D IMAX tomorrow. If I were to give this a rating out of 10 it would be a 8 out of ten. I find it to be a great movie but there are no doubts that it's not the greatest movie ever. There will always be better movies that come out. I just find this to be one of the better and more creative movies made in a while.

Exactly. i love movies and i seen a lot. From a lot of movies we all can usually tell what the plot will be. Its just how its executed is what makes the difference. Its not the best movie ive seen in ages cuz Batman Dark Knight left that lil mark :). As far as quality goes But special effects and designs were hella cool and fun to watch in 3d for Avatar.

well on that note i gotta remind my movie fans. sci fans and horror fans that ALIEN is coming. Directed by scott ridley again. BUt this time the movie is based on the begining. The prequel. it will explan what happened too on that space ship where u seen that giant skeletal alien Gun Man (in Alien 1) and the Hole burst in his chest. And now no AVP BS. just straight up space horror like the first one.
but "ALIENS" is still the freakin best lol 8)

so stay tuned.

it's not really the type of movie you go to see because of the storytelling. I at least respect it for concentrating on it's strong points with the action scenes.

Eh, I don't feel that a sequel is really needed. I can't see them going in any direction worthwhile with it after this one.
