Sonic The Hedgehog 4 Announced by Sega! (I'm DEAD serious)

"Sega has taken the wraps off Project Needlemouse, and the publisher is positioning the game as a proper sequel to the series' Genesis genesis and Sonic the Hedgehog 3, specifically. The publisher has released a new trailer for the game, revealing its official title: Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1."

If a rumor (which more or less is looking all but confirmed) is to be believed, each episode of Sonic the Hedgehog 4 will be the length of a standard Sega Genesis Sonic title, (Seven Zones with Seven Chaos Emeralds) much like Sonic 3 & Knuckles. It is set to be released in the summer for WiiWare, Xbox Live Arcade, Playstation Network, and a mysterious 4th platform. (However, someone has done some digging into the official site, and the last platform the game will be released on seems to be iPhone/iPod Touch.)

I'm pretty sure it's Sega's way of making sure they squeeze every buck they can out of this. That being said, Sonic 3 & Knuckles was episodic too, and well... that's pretty much regarded as the best game in the series.

I'll try to be optimistic, though. There's just too much room for Sega to screw up here.

I heard that sega was going back to old roots with sonic a while back, looks like they finally learned that old school sonic games are the way to go looking forward to release.

well,it seems like Sega copied a page out of Capcom's manual with this one
still,we all know this was the best decision they could make if they want the blue hedgehog alive for the years to come

I am sure that the sell out success of Super Mario Brothers for Wii helped. The old style games are the best. By the time I tire of Mario, Sonic will be out. Ah so glad old school is coming back to video games!

Really? Because I viewed source and viewed image location.. says nothing about iPhone/iPod Touch... my guess is the last system will be either PC or DS.... or even PSP...

Well, I must say that seeing Sonic plunge back into his roots, was completely unexpected, yes.

But still, going backwards is the most logical thing to do, at this point. I'm actually looking forward to seeing a "2-D" version of modern Sonic and Dr. Eggman (aka Robotnik).

Even if the game comes in "episodes", I won't mind at all if they are indeed the length of a full Genesis Sonic game.

Sega, you can finally have some of my money for a Sonic game again.

I think instead of 3D though, it may be closer to 2.5D.... going 3D with a classic game series like that is just stupid. 2.5D is more of a logical thing for this type of classic series than 3D is...

If by 2.5D you mean 3D graphics with 2D game play that is what it is. Along with 2D sprites for the background images, but 3D for the foreground (Sonic, the floor, etc.).

Truthfully, I hope they make it Knuckles.

Though Shadow or a charecter that was introduced pre- 2003, (except Big, of course.) Heck, even Espio would be cool if he played like he did in Chaotix.

As long as it's a decent charecter, with a different play style, it'll be good.

Yeah I messed up, it was just the badnik section they announced, but the 2nd playable character will most likely be Tails, considering Knuckles doesn't leave his island unless the Master Emerald does.
