Here is the bottom line: MVC3's controls are still in development, but it currently has 4 attack buttons, and two assist buttons. If you want the take-away, you can stop reading now because that's the bottom line.

The excitement has all come from the way those buttons are labeled--specifically because one of the attack buttons has a new name. Why does it get its own name? Because:

a) coming up with exciting new names for stuff is what marketing departments do (was "Aerial Rave" a reason to worry about what we used to just call "air combos"?).

b) it does some fun new stuff in some circumstances, but in many ways that stuff is not different than command normals in MVC2. It does stuff like launching (also a normal move in MVC2), causing OTG-able flying screen (normal in MVC2), and some other interesting effects (not as much like MVC2, but a pretty natural evolution).

I understand people's concerns and that even the hint of a change can cause people to go to red alert and divert all power to forward deflector shields. We know MVC2 is serious business, and a very special game. Part of the reason we know that is because we made it, and there are key people from MVC2 on MVC3. We've worked for years to make this game a reality, and so we take it very seriously. The objective is not to "dumb down" a thing, but there are ways to go new places without also giving new players the finger. We have high hopes--you should too. It's easy to get worked up and complain in the absence of a lot of hard info, and there will be plenty of time for that, but I hope we can agree that stuff should come after people have actually played the game and seen it in action.

The good news on that front is that--just like SFIV--we're not hiding this away, and want to get it out and into your hands as early and as often as we can.

Realism doesn't matter at all in this game.

I think they should give them alternate costumes like in SSF4.
They do that, I think they should put in Zero from Megaman X. They do, they better put the Zero from MMZ series as an alternate costume.

and to certain others about hulks pants and the whole realism thing first of all ha ha very funny but that wasnt what I meant exactly I just meant that they are not being very realistic or accurate to the characters (epecially hulks) powers and abilities thats all

and to rage about playing the games the characters come from
I am a big fan of the Resident Evil games and have played all of them except for RE 0, RE remake and umbrella chronicles plus the follow up darkside and my fave characters are Tyrant, mr X and nemesis I think mutated william birkin is cool as well so yes I have played and love the RE games but anyway with that out of the way just like to say that I agree with you actually it does have a RE feel to it I just think it is a really uneven match thats all

ok now I would just like to say that the way I see it is whats the point of playing as our favourite characters if they are not as accurate as possible to the things they are based on that we know and love? as I dont know about everyone else but I personally found playing as hulk (and certain other favourite powerful characters) in the 2 previous games really frustrating at times seeing him get beat up by daft characters like servbot and certain others was just ridiculous and damn anoying at times like hey Im playing as the hulk how in the world can you beat hulk you bucket head grrr hulk smash!

thats the point Im trying to make it would just be nice and better if the characters where more accurate thats all (less stressful and anoying to)

  and just one more thing I hate to say it but the Resident Evil games are not very realistic at times either I mean tyrant (and some of the previous creatures the hunters for example) should have easily killed chris (and jill) in the first game just look at the size of tyrants clawed hand and how fast he is the second time you fight him he is like the flash with claws and look at how quick and easily he killed wesker (or seemed to) he should have killed chris just as easilly as well going off that chris should have died in that game for sure Tyrant should only have needed to catch him once or twice with that clawed hand of his instead of loads of slashes to kill chris and whats with those herbs I like them and all but how the heck do chris and all of the other human characters use them when they are in the middle of a fight with one of the monsters its not like they are going to just stand there while you heal is it?

If they make Disney vs. Capcom, they need to have a new hyper guage that has a level beyond LVL3...LVLDisney.  When a character uses this move, they break out into ballade and start singing.  Ryu's LVLDisney would have him singing about his master Gouken and how he must better himself with Ken, Sakura, Dan, and Gouki as back up singers.  Rockman can sing about how he feels like he is a lifeless machine yet fights for good with Forte on mic, while Blues, Roll, and Dr. Right on instruments.  Morrigan sings a sexy duet with Demitri about reigning over Makai with Zabel on guitar and Aulbath's underwater chorus of sea creatures.
