Help to fix problem

Hello everyone! Guys I would have a problem, I have noticed for some time now that my chars do a lot of damage when I use them. How can I go about fixing this problem? Basically when for example I hit my opponent with a weak punch, it takes away a good slice of life. How can I solve it?
