Maybe you should also use some of Captain Commando's fire for extra effects.

Human Torch..

Since the other topic was closed...

I like the character a lot. I mean heck it's the only Human Torch that's been made for Mugen so far. However I think three things could be improved. One is the portrait. It doesn't look too well and it could be a close up pic of his upper body. The other thing I have a problem with is his walking animation, or lack of if I might say. He should have some type of walking mechanism instead of just "floating." Also, I don't know if it's just my eyes but some of the sprites seem a little choppy and they could be cleaned up to Cacpom standards. Otherwise I think the rest of the character is great. Keep up the good work.  ;)

Time for real feedback from me.

- I feel that he should have more sounds, like in all of his states maybe? Because I imagine if you stand by him you'd hear a flame going. Also whenever he attacks you should hear a flame "whoosh" (don't know what to call it but I think you know what I mean).

- His Light punch takes a few tries to hit most characters like Ryu, Hayato, Captain Commando. Perhaps his Red Clns box should be made a little bigger.

- It feels like he chains too slow, and it's hard to connect a Light Punch to go onto lk,mp,mk,hp etc...

- Like I said, some of his animations should be sped up like the flames, and when ever he throws fire or something, they should be seperate from the Human Torch.

-Like Lord Vader said some of his Animations are a bit choppy, but that's mainly because of the sprites being made that way.

-Lastly, perhaps you should add different types of flames like Captain Commano's to make it look more "Capcom-ish".

Anyway, Those are things I think could be better. Still a great character, I understand it's a Beta. Good Job Acey!  :)

Great suggestions everyone. This version was actually intended to be a final release (obviously there are some bugs to fix) but as many have stated, there is always more to do.

I'd also like to point out that he looks VERY Capcom-ish in his normal form without the flames on when the match starts. However when he "Flame On" 's, it doesn't look completely Capcom-ish. I think the flames around him and his face could be fixed up in his flame form to make him look more like a Capcom character.

He's a great character Acey, but the look reminds me of Cinder.

Hey, I have an idea (but it may be a little too late for it :|) Actually I have three ideas or rather suggestions on the whole non-VS look of HT:

1. Use the whole pal select thing and make him use the flames in alternate pals. That way you can still use the very VS looking non-flame version of HT and the 'Flame On!' ver.

2. Have his 'Flame On!' and actual mode per-say...alot like how Sakura could use a stock of her hypers to go Dark Sakura...I've seen only a few chars that can change this way (Orochi Chris comes to mind) so it would simply be a matter of making the changedstate (I guess) be the sprites for his 'Flame On!' version.

3. Since Johnny doesn't HAVE to go FULL 'Flame On!' to use his fire abilities, why not have him partially flamed (like maybe the hands and forearms and the feet and calves only)...in this case he would STILL be able to use all of his fire attacks and still look VS-styled. This is what they did for MUA (Marvel Ultimate Alliance); IIRC his main (read: default) costume was him in his normal form and when he used certain attacks he would go 'Flame On!' mode temporarily...he also has his "Flame On!' mode as an actual attack so that he stays flamed for a certain duration of time.

Speaking of which, that would be a good source of inspiration for some more moves for Torchy (since peeps keep suggestion it...and I kinda agree on that one :-") This is just my suggestions though.

Everyone's forgetting that Acey didn't make the sprites for Human Torch, but X-Boy did. Acey only got permission to use the sprites as they were provided and to code him into a character. True, he does need some touch up here and there, but I don't think Acey can do that unless X-Boy gives the OK for the sprites to be edited.

Acey, think it's possible to ask X-Boy?
