Playing MUGEN with a controller?
« on: March 22, 2009, 02:39:05 PM »
I was wondering if there is any way to use a Wii Remote (for example) to play MUGEN or how to hook a joystick to the PC to play MUGEN, well I think that's possible because as you may know there is "game" named Frets on Fire which is a copy of Guitar Hero/Rock Band and you can play it with a guitar controller, Bluetooth adapter = Wii Remote, PS Usb = DualShock and so.

Here is something I just found:

Any ideas or info?  :-??

Logitec makes a PC controller that looks and feels like a Dual Shock. You just plug it into a USB port and you're good to go. That's what I use.

I use the Logitech Precision, its like a ps1 controller before they added the sticks. It was like 9 bucks at radio shack when i got it.

But you can plug in a normal 360 controller with a whire, it uses a usb port plug and automaticaly works with any windows pc.

Those are really nice.

Sometimes I'll hook up my PS3 controller. And when playing with friends I'll use my Nyko airflow EX pads (same button scheme as PlayStation controllers except better grips, and airflow to keep your hands dry and cool). since I got 2 of them.

I use a Logitech controller that looks like a PS2 control except it is a different blue . I also use my 360 controller at times .

But for the most part I just use mugen on the computer for testing things . I really prefer to play it on the XBox . Once a month I have a " mugen party ", All the guys send the girls to do their thing & we play mugen all night , grab some pizza & throw a few back . Good times , man .

Because I got it and a Bluetooth adapter too.  ;D

You can use glovePIE to map the Wiimote inputs to key presses.

http://carl.kenner.googlepages.com/glovepie_download
http://www.wiili.org/forum/glovepie-wii-mote-scripts-t360.html <- Useful thread for glovePIE scripts.

Keep in mind that the wiimote isn't 6 buttons, unless your using either the classic controller, or the nunchuck (which would be kinda awkward).

I own one of those as well. Mostly use it for roms though since I'm a terrible player if I use a controller.

Oh, I see, I see, but what about this...

If you had to choose between a keyboard or a joystick (any controller), which one you would choose?  ~:>

I think I'm just going to stick to my keyboard.  :|

It all just depends on what you are comfortable using. A PS2-style controller is most familiar to me these days, so that's what I run.

You'll play best with what you know. If you like the keyboard, why fix what's not broken?
