Honestly, I think it's a good thing and a bad thing. Good that we'll be healthier. Bad that we're playing GOD.


Wait, what?

How do you know that a supposed God isn't what evolved from what we're doing right now? Maybe when this species reaches the pinnacle of its intelligence (if we can get there) we create a universe ourselves to just continue on as it may... Would you really consider us "Gods" then? Or just the perpetuation of reality?

That post there brings me to the age old question.  Did God create man or did man create God?  I hate to have to think about that with numerous family members of mine being religous and all but it bothers me.  Opinions?

Okay, here's an amusing scenario:

Say there are 4 scientists that are able to create 100,000 human clones due to this "great" discovery. These clones (being made from controlled scientific chemicals) exhibit superhuman qualities. Suppose their artifical intelligence is the final step to their completion. One of the scientists happens to be a terrorist in disguise. He/She stays behind after the other 3 scientists turn in for the day. She/he hacks the computer responsible for programming the clones' minds and inserts a disc labelled "Death to the World". Then the terrorist leaves, his/her horrific task completed.

The next day only 3 scientists return to the lab (the terrorist flees to Afghanistan for safety) and are instantly slaughtered upon activating the clones. The clones then go on an uncontrollable rampage with intelligence matching our own. In other words they'd know where to go to evade police and eventually the military. Now if they ever get access to military arms and ammunition, it could spell the end for the U.S.

Think this hypothesis is childish poppycock? Think about it. It only takes one scientific nutcase with that kind of exclusive access to completely annihilate any good that might come from this discovery. No one ever thought something like the Virgina Tech massacre or 9/11 would ever happen.

All I'm saying is: expect the worst so you can prepare accordingly if/when something like the example scenario were to ever happen.

Dude, do you have any idea how many pyschotic/homicidal nutcases there are out there who would just love to f**k up something like this? They've got nothing better to do than to screw up/destroy whatever they can get their grubby little mits on.

Why else would teens waste their lives tagging walls, doing drugs, and attack Wal Mart security guards? Why else would adults make Pornography a mutli-billion dollar industry, and round up innocent children and sell them into sex slavery in third world countries? Some people are too damn bored with their normal lives, so they figure destroying/tampering with objects/scientific discoveries will quench their rediculous thrill-seeking. (age is NOT a factor)

Why on God's sweet earth do third world countries (who cannot even take care of their own people) strive so hard to develop nuclear weapons of mass destruction?

thank you! finally im not getting chewed out about that. i mean I was in the movie theater with my freind and we were talking about that and some women comes up to me and ask "can I have your eyes?" "cause thats pretty much what stem cell research is taking away from a person" then I try saying its not a person its a bunch of cells smarting to form life.  but then FF2 came on and I ignored her.

no you are absolutely correct. take a look at nuclear power. can be a great source for developing countries as energy yet we use it to destroy.
