Also, regardless of if he died or whatever, SSBB isn't a F-Zero game. It's a fighting(-ish) game with Captain Falcon in it. Canon in the shows doesn't necessarily mean canon in games, and it just doesn't make sense to not include CF in Brawl if he died

Captain Falcon can die all he wants in his anime and games but since Brawl is everything but cannon( Rayquaza is evil there ) then Captain can still join the Brawl.

Sakurai says that Trophy state = Death

But as I said SSB is not Cannon to the original series.
