An Public Service Announcement on ROMs by supaman2525
« on: August 10, 2018, 08:36:26 AM »
Hello everyone it's been a while since I talked to y'all but I'll fill you in on my whereabouts on the next post my friends

It's supaman here with a PSA on something very important and serious but first watch this video

Yea....... That's right for those that don't know it's about to be
D.O.R. (death of ROMs) because Nintendo is on a warpath on video gamin ROM sites and from an example they got only two sites that have Nintendo content games.

Now this worries me alot because if it wasn't for ROMs how else would we play our favorite video games on the PC,hell if it wasn't for ROMs there would never be sprite rips, RPGMakers,BOR fan games or Mugen characters, stages and so on

So if this keeps up it might get worst for all of us
In conculion: for the people who don't have ROMs best better get them before it's too late and for the people who have ROMs my best bet is to privately share them

Because classic video games are our landmark for our entertainment of gaming........so don't let it die  :'(

But what ur opinion about this tragically story?

This is supaman signing off peace!

beh, it's a shame but the official brands hate if their gains are fewer as people like more using roms and emulators to play gratis... and as their in their own legal rights to block piracy and such, sadly the rom hosting sites are bound to go down. i'd say though, this won't be the end, as if one wants to play a game with a rom and an emu will always find a solution.. a couple of nintendo roms hosted sites going down isn't too hard for a rom lover. hope this won't start a full "witch" hunt for all rom sites, not only nintendo ones..
let's hope this hunt will die soon

that's what I feared too: vg companies taking back what was "theirs" but that's just the most stupid thing and a waste of time.
reason: there are countless differences between emulated games / homebrews and the original game/cartridge/cd on the original consoles.
if they do not realize this then I've really overstimated them, they're just acting like greedy busterds.

but.. yeah, I agree, take everything you can before they take it back! XD

What I think is sad is that they're making a killing off of NES Classic & SNES Classic, that they know have to be so low as to get rid of all these emulator's and rom's... Why is there no download feature for the classic systems they released? The NES Classic & the SNES Classic should have a large enough hard drive, and an online database to access, so we can download our own favorites from the nes & snes days... But no. We only get the "popular titles." My SNES Classic was literally collecting dust, until I bought a case to store in it. I want to play other games that were available for the SNES, but I can't. Sure, the Wii & the 3DS have SOME games available, but not all of them. This is where emulator's and ROMs come in handy. We can play the games we missed out, without having to spend $200 on a badly used NES system and another $80 on the cartridge.

I think it's sick that these people are so greedy. Sony isn't even making any "remastered classic system" anytime soon, and Microsoft only has BC with some 360 games & a handful of original XBOX games (although, I think they're download only). So... what? Because I maybe wasn't born when a game was released or I was too young to buy it or play it, I can't now? That's up to the companies who made the game to decide? I say absolutely not! They killed one popular site, sure, but just like the saying goes "Cut off one head, two more will take its place." I bet you there are people out there who have probably half, if not most, of the database from before EP called it quits. We'll see another site or 2 rise. In the meantime, we have others. They're just harder to find, and for good reason. Trust me. I didn't get my Gamecube ROMs from Emuparadise. ;)

It just Nintendo being Nintendo. Nothing new on the front.
Maybe one day people will realize that Nintendo is not the "friend of eveyrone on a shining armor" like much people think they are.
