Is there a move similar to Dr. Strange's Grace of Hoggoth?
« on: July 19, 2014, 11:30:20 AM »
Is there any characters that have moves that work similar to Dr. Strange's "Grace of Hoggoth" attack? I'd really like to see how to code something like that.

It's at 2:50.  I tried to set the time marker, but it's not taking.

Here is a video for reference.

Nope. There are moves where you can spawn hovering blobs, but nothing where the hovering blob powers up whatever projectile you throw at it.

Awkward bits. Everything is a helper. The projectile helper and the hovering blob need to talk to each other when they're close. This has to be done with parentvarset

The most awkward bit, the fact that the projectile helper aims and changes angle to direct itself at the blob helper, that's going to be a bugger to do. Code on MFG for angled projectiles and setting their velocity to a point. Still gonna be urgh.

LOL, Cyanide, I can always rely on you for coding advice!  Thanks!  Ok, so what characters have a good example (versatile?) of a "hovering blob" attack?

Quick ones. Ash from KoF 2k3/XI. Malin 2k3 although hers is a little more limited in that it actually has to get to the point first.
If you were to play the game, Bleach Dark Souls 2 with Ukitake i believe it was has this although it's way WAY more advanced than what you have in that vid.
To some extent Rikuo in Night Warriors (the first one) has this with his poison gas cloud.
You could also almost make a case for Blackheart with the Inferno special. It just doesn't last very long.

Timing isn't overly important as if you were to steal the code (i'd recommend Ash out of all of the above) you just need to alter how long the helper actually lasts for. Needs to be a helper too, projectiles won't cut the mustard.
