Author Topic: is The Last of Us worth its hype? (Read 1171 times)

I've seen a LOT (and I meant a LOT) of people highly praising The Last of Us now that its released. The lowest score I seen it get is an 8/10 (and everyone is chewing out Gamespot for that) But yeah a lot of people are really in love with this game, to the point of drawing comparisons to Citizen Kane. Many reviewers I see are calling it an evolution of gaming and storytelling and predicting that its going to be not only Game of the Year, but maybe the best game of all time.

But I'm kinda skeptic about the hype so I wanna know ... is Last of Us really THAT good?

same here, dont have a PS. I have tho seen some footage here and there. It looks good but i havent watched any of the playthroughs to see how it actually plays. Best Game ever? hmmm anything that can trump Contra's legendary and true old school gamer best game code ever which is up, up, down ,down ,B, A ,select ,start code to unlock the real goods, if its got that legendary quality then might be worth a shot at such a status to me.

i will do more research on it and maybe try it out on nephew ps3.

So I take it there's no place nearby where you live where you can rent it to try it out?

i never said anything about as single campaign, plus it is part of a code.. the best one. Contra 2 players 4 life!
plus yeah its Select +start for 2 player. thats def my bad.

Not a store. It might be in the Redbox near my house but even then, my PS3 disc reader's broken $\-/o$

I seriously loved what I've seen about this game and is the first game that has made me wish I had a PS3. Too bad it's an exclusive for that system.

ok now you guys really gonna make me shell out the bucks for it and a PS3. I havent found a game that made me want one that bad but if this is as good as you guys think it is... i may have to suck it up and give my money.

i bought this game (pre-order).. im tired of Resident Evil story (4 was my last one), and i was looking for a new terror/adventure, im sure i will love it.

funny is because last month at game sites was "bioshock will game of year for sure"
now is "wait, last of us is game of year"
... looks like this will be a good year.

and we never know, maybe apper some simple game like journey and get the trophy again...

I wasn't impressed with Bioshock Infinite. The beginning section of the game was the best part for me, mainly the barbershop quartet. Pretty sad when my favorite part happens before you even pick up a gun.
