hello, everyone

you probably know about shocker wip, which i started about 2 (?...) (!) years ago
finally, with help from Arkady, aa250 and many other people he grew up to his pre-release video:

Looks great! You can tell the body lines are just flat on the body but what can you expect when you have to add the checkered lines to all those sprites. It's hard to tell from the video if he's shaded well or not since it's so grainy but overall I think he looks really good. You can see the stance and poses are somewhat blocky in animation though (all the parts seem to move verticle and horizontal without bending.) The special move set looks great to. The video shows a lot of special attacks so I would like to know how does he chain? Also what strategies are built in to him rather than beams and projectiles? In other words, I see super jumps with some 3 hits combos but then do they chain into specials and hypers? Also is he gaining power back while connecting with his hyper attacks or is he only using up 500 of his power bar to do hypers? I'm glad we'll finally get shocker in Mugen, great choice there.

Also I was wondering about the tiny hit sparks, are those screen pack specific?

the template is the same as the angel wip, its the cvg united new template, made by aa250, it has small hitsparks, less flashy, but i think aa250 is looking for new hitsprites for the template

dont sure that i could answer about code specifics
but here about sprites:

he made from cap america, so uses his shading+one-colored net
here is sprite:

i tried to make non-flat net, but couldnt perform that, without adding much colors..+that way takes ALOT of extra time
although i have all sprites backup without net, so probably someday ill find easy and good way to update that

and about hypers, he uses 1000, and i dont think hes gaining power from there. its probably just my screenpack issue

Shocker is good. I'd like to have him in my MUGEN. That Mr. Sinister and Lady Deathstrike look friggin sweet too.

The shocker in this video is the old one not all of his moves and features were shown a lot of bugs have already been fixed like the supers give back power you mention due two get power code one where he gains power and one where he doesn't in the hitdef I don't know how that happened.

The hit sparks he has are the CVG hit sparks that Yin made them from scratch apparently not many people like them, but we are currently looking for new ones. He was built off our own template the same template that klrt, Angel, Iron Patriot were built off.

There is no release date set as of yet since we want this character bug free.

Actually it mine, bdc, ALEXZIQ, Yin and ARLEQUIN. We plan to release an updated one since the one I released on November had a lot of bugs.

I just think that the effects are too much blurred.
you could blur the effects a bit less and make it twice the size, then you use it with a scale = 0.5,0.5

Yeah I am working on updating the template visually. I took Arlequins hyper port design and mixed it with the design O' used on Black Cat (with permission)

I think I may alter the reds to a soft lavender on the the effects, and bgs and I have some new ideas on hit sparks.

Custom player indicators are in the works, and the dash effect needs redesigned.

I wont be drestically differant just smoother. Everyone is picky about Hyper BG's I just havent found aything mindblowing enough to replace the current one.

i feel as if the sprites could use a lot more work.... it seems the lines on the body are being done that way to rush through the sprites.
I think it's cool someone is trying to do a shocker for mugen. :thumbsup:
and in me personal view of this character it is average at best.(sprite wise)

And don't take this as me talking trash... i'm just going to tell you what i see... i'm not going to tell you it's "AMAZING!" just to lift your hopes.
but i think if you worked on the sprites, this character could fall into the "AMAZING" category.

hope all goes well with this... and you do update the quality of the sprites before release.

all thats missing is a glow effect around his fist when he punches remember the guy uses his powers to hit and blast every thing its seems strange if they'd be off at any point in a fight other than that hes perfect

agree with acey about body lines, but im sure is so late to back and re-do all.
anyway, his special moves look nice at video, nice moveset.

- didnt liked throw and something he did at 0:28, is the dash/run?
- walk speed look weird to me, descress his speed or incress walk anim speed.
- make align of cap america strong punch at code

The sprites were never rushed they been like that since the start of this WIP back in 2009. I assume they were fine since nobody said anything about them. We manage to save this WIP because he was almost canceled. His sprites were edited from Captain America.

It a tackle special attack Arkady coded this move.

sprites look correct, but he move front and then back, if that movement are only at sprite, he will look wrong if get hit and pass over some chars if he stay close, check released version of wucash bishop strong punch.

Oh Gotcha alright we'll fix that. I'll take a look at Bishop though. :)

Zvitor I see what you are talking about Bishop goes through the character when pressing standing strong punch, but Shocker doesn't have this problem. :P

I remember Sand Man at scruffy had this texture thing done to his sprites (I think..) couldn't that be applied to shocker?

what can i say, im not so happy with this net either
it was done quick, yes, but not with rush, no
i just didnt saw any other good options how to make it better. and i still dont
one thing is to paint horizontal or vertical lines, diagonal - much worse
it will rather look thick, or intermittent, you see

this problem actually was there, but it was fixed by Arkady eventually :thumbsup:
im not related to coding, so then i was chose sprites placement, i didnt really thought how it will work
more how it will look
thats the root of evil
