WTF??!! Ok, I'm just gonna go all out and predict that this movie will be HORRIBLE!!! Is it just me? Or shouldn't Kyo Kusanagi be played be someone FROM JAPAN!!!! Or a Japanese American actor. Jeez! I'd be satisfied if he was just Asian! At least it'd be passable. C'mon!! How many White guys do you know with Japanese names such as !!KYO KUSANAGI!! That's totally and completely JAPANESE! And this guy doesn't even look half that! This is just as stupid as the canadian guy playing Goku!! Or the Smallville chick playing Chun-Li!! I mean seriously! Have you guys seen the making of this on youtube? The guy playing Iori looks nothing like him so far, but at least he's Asian. The guy playing Rugal dose NOT FIT the part by any means!! And where's Mai's classic outfit?? Where's Geese? Where's Andy and Joe? Didn't all this start in SouthTown??!! I thought the first KOF tournament was hosted by Geese Howard! That's the problem with all these game to big screen movies. They never stick to the source material! They always feel they have to add or take away from something that's already there to work with. ............ Oh boy... I'll just stop there... (Shaking my head) What do you guys think?

Yeah MK was cool, the first one anyway. Even had a series spin off! ... Tomb raider was also pretty cool IMO. We agree... And we also agree that this KOF film will be really really BAD...

Ok you're right about the DBZ thing, it is never stated that the sayin's look Japanese, or even Asian for that matter. We all just assume that they would at least look it. If you think about it, why is it that all Aliens that come to earth, and land in America, or any non Asian country, look like Americans, or any other non Asian??  I'm sure if there can be White or Black aliens, there most definitely can be Japanese aliens! Or any other type of humanoid. And as far as why we complain, Well I can't speak for all, only myself. It just tears me to shreds knowing that a game that I've followed from day 1, is being raped and made into someone else's vision of trash just because they think it too unrealistic to throw fire balls without the use of some sort of device. It's not supposed to make realistic sense!! It's based on a damn video game that's not real in the first place! I complain because I wanna see something that is a total fantasy. Something that makes no sense what soever! We've watched ninja fly through trees, and kung-Fu masters jump insanely and inhumanly high, seriously defying gravity, and we've LOVED IT!! So why the heck can I see Ryu do his Tetsumaki sen pu Kyaku on screen??!! I complain because THEY CAN DO THESE THINGS!!! But they're lazy a**ho**s that don't wanna spend the money, or find the time to get some real guys, that actually look the parts, and have a decent fight background. Oh! And some decent acting skill as well... I don't ignore them because it's the idea of actually seeing your favorite characters on the big screen. Even when you know it's not what you'd expect, you still wanna see what they've done, good or bad... Hope that cleared things up a bit. At least about how I look at things...

Well cuz the 2nd movie was way off. Jade is a friend of Kitanas. Most of the new actors and actresses were corny, I mean nobody can beat Christopher Lamberts Raiden. Shao Kahn and Raiden aren't brothers nor are they sons of Shinnok, some of the fighting scenes were reminiscent of ballerinas, and what was up with Johnny Cage dying in the beginning? I remember him in MK1, 2, 3, 4, DA.... The only one I don't remember him being in is MKD actually. .

As for me the only game based movies I like are SH, and MK, the rest are awful.

The DBZ movie what bothered me was Yamcha was asian, and in the anime his character design is very similar to Gokus... so WTF.

I really stopped caring about KOF after their golden ages and if this puts the final nail in the coffin then so be it, but game series usually have a way of going beyond their crappy movies, like Mario and Resident Evil.

They go to like another dimension or some BS like that to stop something from invading our world!! OMG... As to the topic at hand:

I'm very much dreading this movie, which is sad cause I'm a HUGE fan of the game series.   As mentioned above, they're already starting out on the wrong foot for a FIRST kof movie with the characters they chose to be in it.   KOF did start in Southtown and was hosted by Geese.  How can you have no Andy?  no Joe? no Billy Cane?  and most importantly no Geese?

That stuff aside, the second biggest peev about this whole mess, for me, is not only the choice of actors for certain roles...but their look.   Seriously, does Hollywood have some magically hidden fine print somewhere that says:  

"If there are 100 different ways in which we can make your video game/comic characters unrecognizable on film... you can rest assured we will find the one that is the biggest departure!!  "  

Seriously.. it's not like they're working blind or anything... there is a TON of source material for them to reference!!  How can they get it so utterly wrong so often?   I can understand a FEW cosmetic changes here and there (cause lets face it.. some traditional character costumes would look a bit ridiculous if tried in real life).... but that doesn't mean you have to completely change EVERYTHING about the character to the point where they are merely using the name and have NOTHING else in common with their game counter part.    Tonfas?  Really?   *rolls eyes*

No, not just that.   They got ahead of themselves and tried to include waaaay too much into a relatively short movie.   A lot of the characters they "tried to add" where just there for the sake of being there and the snips of time that they did spend on such pointless cameos (for lack of a better word) felt awkward and out of place... just like filler.  Plus, some of the acting was pretty bad.   There are many reasons why the second movie (to the majority of viewers) was bad.   The fact that they didn't follow the time line of the story was only a small part of it.

The producers and film makers seems to have problems those last years ,
I'll say sometime an old film worth better than a bad remake ,
and some other times video games got to stay video games and forget the big screen !

That Mature could indeed work, with the right clothes, a decent fighting background, and for peat sake! Get rid of thoses dam tonfa's!! That Vice is Beautiful, but you're right. She don't fit... As for that Terry...... I don't know about that... They're probably gonna keep his hair short, and throw him in leather jacket knowing them... The Chizuru chick could work though. This movies just gonna be bad... No way around that...

Oh Atice my friend..... KOF very much DOES have a story line. And yes! Chun Li has her own as well. But the thing is, if your gonna do a story based off something that people all over the world LOVE and for many of us, have grown up with, then you do it RIGHT... Chun Li has a story within a story! That movie should have been based on Ryu and Ken PERIOD... They could have thrown Chun's in as well, but mainly Ryu and his struggle to be a better fighter as he's never satisfied with himself. The other stories could have been sequels since SF1 really didn't have much going for it. If they had done it right, it could have set up the rest of the SF story line. THE RIGHT WAY... ... The legend of Chun Li SUCKED!!! And when you do see it, you'll understand why. There's no street fighting in it! Why the f*** is everyone shooting at each other??!! Anyway, on to KOF... They've already screwed it up by adding Si Fi! SI FI??!!  Like it's not enough to through fire from your dam hands... Other dimensions to fight defenders of that particular universe? ... That's just NOT KOF... It should be taking place in southtown, with Geese hosting it. Andy and Joe should be there! They were the main crew! bottom line... People wanna see what they've been following for years. Not some BS the Hollywood makes up because they think the source material isn't good enough... To be honest, I think they should just leave them alone until someone decides to do things that are faithful to the source material...

In fact the mainly problem is they have to do KOF movie with
recent and more used characters ,
a new story (what is the interest to write a story already writted years before ?)
cult character for any generation to find something remembering the game ,
new actors or less known , so they can save money ,
make a story fitting with the style of movie made now , to assure they see more than gamers
and assure a maximum audience in theaters ,
and also they have to not introduce a lot of characters (we all know the disaster made by MK2 Movie !)

About Street Fighter 1 the first bad thing was to set Guile as the hero of Street Fighter ,
the choice of some actor was not good ,
not only with the fact that they were not fit with the character physically ,
but the point that some of them were bad actor
(personnaly I would not have chosen JC Vandamme as Guile)
We found Deejay working for Bison ,
Dhalsim as a physician , Blanka is an old friend of Guile ,
Cammy is working with Guile , nothing is fitting with SF 2 characters Stories ,
All this to say , Kristin Kreuk is not the best to fit as Chun Li ,
but she's a good actress , so maybe the movie is funny
even if it's got nothing to do with the game .
I'm always afraid when games becomes movies .

Yep! I'm willing to bet that they will have Terry looking just as I described. Short hair, and a leather jacket. Watch... If they do actually pull off his look, I'll be seriously surprised! But I doubt it... And as for the old SF Movie, omG.......... DeeJay played by Juwanna Mann!!! WOW... And working for Bison............. Anyway, Vandamme as Guile!!?? WTF were they thinking??!! Too bad they never made a toon version of him. He's cool to use in SFTM the video game though... Vega? Didn't fit... And Sagat... They should have used Tong-Po from the original Kick boxer film... All in all, I hated that movie! But after seeing The legend of Chun Li, I have a bit of respect for it. As ridiculous as the characters were, at least they tried to keep true to they're looks. They did a horrible job, but they did try. Horribly... ... Don't expect much out of this KOF Movie. It already sucks just from description alone....
