The wait is finally over: Mega Man 9 hits North America next week!

The game will be released for download on the September 22 for the Wii (1000 points). Playstation Network gets it September 25th ($9.99), and XBLA will have it October 1 (800 points)!

These dates are for North America ONLY. You may now begin your local variation of the Dance of Joy."

Capcom has revealed to us today that Proto Man, Mega Man’s mysterious robo-brother, will indeed be playable in Mega Man 9 via paid DLC. The materials we received say it’ll arrive the week of October 6 for 200 Wii Points, 160 Microsoft Funnybucks and plain ol’ $1.99 on PSN.

 

For the most part he plays the same as Megs, though he’s able to slide and charge his blasts. Mega Man could perform those attacks in every game after Mega Man 2, but doesn’t in Mega Man 9. Make sense?




Proto Man can deflect most bullets with this shield, but larger blasts will still cause damage and push him back twice as far as Mega Man. Being struck also interrupts his charge shot. All the Rush adaptors change to Proto adaptors as well – Proto Sled, Proto Coil etc.




No actual gameplay images just yet. So far all we have are these tiny pics used for illustrative purposes only. There’s more DLC news to come too, so keep your eyes and hears directed at GR and Capcom’s own blog for more updates.

Damn, I the earliest I can get some more Wii points is Tuesday. I guess one day wont kill me... but then again i'm having a girl come over Tuesday too, so I have to wait two days... or just later that night

I hope that they do another Megaman X game too. Though I'd prefer it in X4-6 styled sprites. I wouldn't mind X1-3 either. I just want it.

Well, K.I. said in a recent interview that he's giving the X series a break. He said it's not over though and that he does plan on making more down the road.

Yeah, X5 was originally supposed to be the last game, but Capcom pulled a surprise on us. You can never tell when it comes to Capcom.
