Projectile Lag
« on: June 30, 2008, 12:58:22 AM »
Well, first things first, I have a nice computer. A gaming rig, so I know my Comp isn't at fault here.

Now then, my problem.

So, with certain characters, namely Warusaki3's SvC Ryu and IoriWLS by Vans Belmont, as well as all of Don Drago's characters, I'm getting a bit of lag. The lag occurs as a projectile hits the opponent.

For example, as Waru's Ryu, I shoot a hadouken at Ken. When the Hadouken hits and the sparks go flying, Mugen momentarily lags. The lag isn't much, it lasts only until the opponents gethit animation ends, but it's enough to annoy the hell outta me.

So what's up? This happens in all versions of Mugen, with or without a screenpack. Is it the character itself or is my Mugen configured weird? If it's the character, what could I do to make the lag go away?

Really, I just want Warusaki's SvC characters to work right.  ~X(

Check your mugen.cfg for options.

Yeah, I did, and everything is set to work correctly.

After playing with Ryu a bit more and checking out the debug stuff, I know exactly what the problem is but have no idea how to fix it.

The problem isn't lag, per se, as my computer runs at a solid 60fps even when the "lag" hits. The problem is something with Ryu's hadouken itself. Something in the code causes the game to slow down (Not lag) when the hadouken hits.

All I know is that it's in [state-1000]. Blargh. IF ONLY I COULD CODE.

actually nick09 is right. set your helper numbers up in the mugen.cfg maybe the projectile numbers too. youll know what we're talking about if you scan a bit real quick. usually if they are set too low then they usually dont show. but it doesnt hurt to try. it may be what the problem is.

Well, I have my cfg file set up right now to work with Dragonclaw, I figured that would be enough. Gimme a sec, I'll look it over again.

EDIT

Just checked them. Helper settings are at max, and projectile settings are at 200 (I put in a random high number). Still happens. As I said earlier, it isn't really 'lag' as my FPS doesn't change. It's gotta be something in the way his projectiles are coded.

also happens when there are a lot of helpers on screen as your cpu may be struggling to display them. for that, you would probably need more ram but if you do, maybe some chars are not destroying helpers properly? i dunno, im just thinking out loud.

Nah, it's not my computer. I have a gaming rig, and if it were my comp then the FPS would slow down.
