Well it certainly is a damn good game. My only complaint is that my copy randomly freezes occasionally (either the character model locks up or the whole thing freezes). Other than that, it's a damn good time all around. Best "launch release" yet. :D

I just started playing yesterday and I'm already nearly finished (story mode, I don't pay attention to misc bullcrap things like collect 3 billion of this, collect 3 thousand of that type of crap in free roaming games, it's annoying, especially when you're a big fan of GTA and Spiderman games).

One problem I have is these annoying mentally handicapped guys. They're all like RAAAAAAAAARGH, and then for no reason they punch me. They actually killed me one time because when they punched me I fell in the water. Speaking of which, what kind of assassin can't swim. I mean dude. You spend most of your life trying to hide in places people wouldn't probably have a line of sight, the water would be a perfect place for an assassin to hide during a hit and run mission in the boat areas.
I like how some things are realistic though. Like one time I this woman was begging me for cash and she was going to blow my cover during a mission so I threw her at this wooden building (kind of like a sales post), and a bunch of people behind her got knocked down when she crashed and the building got destroyed from the impact and fell on them, I laughed so hard.

I like how the enemies try anything to keep you from running away, like when you're climbing and then all of a sudden they throw stones at you.

My second problem is templars in the cities piss me off. Like one time I was going to do this mission which was like kill 2 guys and return to the wounded assassin or whatever. So then I'm on my way to my target, and all of a sudden a random templar causes a riot and my mission fails because I'm supposed to be stealthy the whole time.

Friend of mine lent it to me and its meh. Don't think this game deserves any "Best of 07" awards, but thats my opinion. It just gets way too repetitive and boring.

I'm carrying out all the investigation points, views and save the civilian opportunities, since otherwise the game wouldn't last five minutes (like Kane and Lynch, ahem). Bugger collecting all the flags and crosses though, it's not like you get stealth camoflage or anything if you do.  :D

Turns out not all the mumbling staggering people are mentally handicapped. As a friend pointed out to me, some of them are just drunkards (they hold bottles). Not that they are any less annoying of course. A swift punch to the face sorts out both, as well as beggars (like in Awesome's Creed). And I really agree with the water issue, since it was such a good hiding place in the Tenchu games. And at least there are only 60 Templars overall, eh?

It's probably the best game on PS3 at the moment, unless you're a sports fan or prefer FPS's like Resistance: Fall of Man. As for games on other consoles, you're probably right. Roll on 2008! (MGS4, RE5, GTA4, etc).

lol. I can't believe Egoraptor already made a parody of it. XD.
Although when I punch people gaurds attack me (even though in the tips during the loading screen it says they're not supposed to). So when it ever gets too troublesome I'll just do a stealth kill the run away.
Honestly I don't know why people say it's repetitive because think about it, every game has it's repetitiveness, fighting games, shooting games, driving games, first person shooting games, role playing games, and I hate when people back up their statements by saying oh well you have to have skill to play blah blah blah, well you have to have skill to play any game well enough (unless it would be like some stupid toddler game).

omfg u read my mind like a book lol I h8 those guys they caused to to fail a mission one time cuz I got mad of him pushing me plus he was blocking my way so I killed him and I got killed my guards  :| the swimming part wow when fighting a templar near water is the worst the love to throw u and wuda u kno I got throw in water like 3 time before I got pissed and left

Uh, think about it. Think of the missions. You either have to listen to some dudes conversations, and then steal, beat'em up....and then run away. (But yeah, I feel you on how the mental people get in the way.....just wish you could kill them). Its an ok game, not saying its trash, just not "Best of 07" worthy. Nick points out bugs the game has, and there are plenty more than just one.....but meh, don't want to start an argument in a thread thats for Assassins Creed. (Oh and the ending, did anyone figure out the messages?)

So. In fighting games, you fight, fight more, and then fight even more.
In First person games, you shoot, shoot more, and shoot more.
In stealth games, you hide, hide, boss fight, hide, perhaps a gun fight.
The only game that I can say that doesn't have repetitiveness would be Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, because there's just a lot of things you can do.

Everything is repetitive (except for gta:sa).

As for the ending, One of the messages said 12212012

I think 1221 was around his ancestors time... Something happened.
and 2012 is supposedly when either the rapture or the gathering is going to happen, whatever it's going to be, it's going to be religious.
I think the next game might take place in 2012.

Hmm, guess we'll have to wait and see until AC2 comes out.

But yes, I'll agree with you on all, except fighting games. Sure the moves look the same, but depending on what opponent your fighting  with, you adjust and apply different strategies against he/she, not to mention the variety of moves the character has, how to counter them, frame advantages,etc.....but then I guess that could be said about the other type of games you mentioned. Really, you can argue it back and forth about it,but once you get right down to it, yeah, all games are repetitive. So, Agreed.

It's repetitive because there is only fighting. Sure there can be countless strategies, but in the end it's just fighting, back in the day Capcom broke some of the repetitiveness with bonus games like break the car, or break the barrels.

Oh noes! My entire love of gaming has been ruined! For shame! :D

The only fighting game I've ever played the requires "skill" is Soul Caliber, since you can block properly and every fight is like a dance. Either you lead, or you follow, and if you follow then you are going to lose. Tekken has a charm in that it is essentially based on luck and how much you can abuse juggle moves. 2D fighters probably required a lot of the chess-like skill, but I'm also reckoning that a lot of it was really based on how much you could spam the Hyper/Super moves (this applies to our beloved MUGEN, btw).

UNLESS you are playing against a human opponent, of course. In which case that's a whole different ballgame, and strategies mean nothing unless you can out-think and out-manoeuvre someone as intelligent as you.

But Assassin's Creed does contain moments where you must surely feel outnumbered and in trouble? (Unless you've done the bare minimum, in which case it's your own damn fault that you haven't felt the buzz the game can offer due to a lack of commitment). I myself have actually had moments where I've been cornered and reduced to a very low amount of health, and it felt fantastic. My only problem is with how easy it is to fight once the "counter" attack is unlocked.

As for the next game, despite having not reached the end yet, I always felt that a sequel that takes place in the future was on the cards. After all, you wouldn't introduce Desmond at all unless you were looking to make a franchise out of the series (I'm thinking Prince of Persia trilogy, anyone?).

Just out of interest, apart from the first target and the Hospitalier mad doctor, can you actually stealthily take out any of the other targets? So far it seems all my investigations come to nothing as everything turns to sh*t when the tragetys run away/kill everyone.
