Real life Board / Card game
« on: September 24, 2009, 08:11:46 PM »
Alright, probably a couple of you guys know what this topic is obviously going to be about. If you don't then listen up. I'm currently working on a real life board / card game which is basically sorta a combination of a board game and card game. However, I'm adding various game modes to increase the replay value of the game so people don't get bored of it. Now, I was thinking earlier of adding an arena where you can face off against other people's characters that they have collected. You can pretty much use cards and game pieces in the arena but on the actual board game, you got to use game pieces. I was wondering if any of you guys have any ideas to help me make complete the game.

Sounds like Epic Duels made by Wizards of the Coast.

Here are a couple of pictures of my progress on the game so far. Please note that the board shown is barely complete and needs a lot more work done on it. Also, the pictures are blurry due to the fact I took them on my Nintendo DSi. The characters shown on the board are Congar, Godzilla 2000, Kineticlops, and Megalon. I'll post more information on the game as I get more progress done.

Thank you for the compliment! :) Does anyone else like the game so far? To be honest, I'm better at making board games than making creations for M.U.G.EN., lol.

I've just thought of an idea for my game just now which is how to make the missions work in the game. I was thinking that on the boards, there are various spaces marked with an M which stands for mission and when you land on that space, you'll be either teleported to another board or you'll get a card with a mission description on it. When you complete a mission, you'll unlock various prizes such as new characters, game boards, and missions. However, most of the mission spaces require certain requirements in order to actually gain access to them whether it'd be playing as a certain character and completing a various task or completing various missions in the game that are needed to unlock that mission. Please comment and let me know what you think of the idea.

It's a very creative board, man.  :)

Since there will be missions and stuff, won't there jail stuff too? Like if you fail the mission or get caught by the cops?  :-??

I don't what would happen if you fail one of the missions in the game since I'm making a variety of boards based on different series' for the game. I'm probably going to make it so if you fail a mission you lose a certain number of turns but for the time being, I honestly don't know.

EDIT: If you want to give me suggestions for missions or game pieces for the "Giant Monster" board, please post your ideas in this topic.

I'm thinking of scanning it and then allowing you guys to print it so you can all enjoy it but for the time being, I'm just trying to get it done and worry about the extra stuff later. Also, I found that link before and I appreciate you for finding it in case I need to look back at it for tips.
