I saw a commercial for them while watching TNA and i was quite shocked at how utterly ridiculous it seems

Yup I went to the site. I believed it for a bit then actually sat down and ran it through my brain and the more I thought about it the more it seemed really stupid.

Noone knows for sure if 2012 is real or not. Plus they said in a video on their site that they have an under ground city almost built and several nuclear reactors to supply electricity. But the funny thing about it was they said it was done in secrecy. Now think about technology now adays. How on earth can you put several nuclear reactors in the ground without the government knowing about it? Plus the press catching on eventually. So it was a huge "BS" story. So im gonna guess what one of the posters above said, that it is infact a viral campaign.

Plus the "election" for a new "leader" put the icing on the "BS" cake.

EDIT : I seen the whole site earlier this week when the very first commercial aired late at night on Adult Swim then Spike.

OMG hidden in plain sight? I had no idea that was there and I columned through that site for a good hour or 2. but I never actually look at copyright info so that was probably why I did not notice it. I could care less about who owns copyright.

I spent 5 secs looking at the page; I guess that's why I didn't see it.  Nice Job sony, for advertising something that some people might mistake for real.

now if you look a the bottom RIGHT side, you can see where it says "explore the 2012 movie experience" and feel even sillier about this whole thing.  :D

This is a really poorly executed viral campaign.

The ones for District 9 were way better. Some of my dumber friends thought aliens had landed in Africa.  :cool

I know a few who probably would have come up with something like this.

Viral marketing is pretty freaking stupid nowadays.  I thought this was for that new movie, Surrogates, starring Bruce Willis (I only caught the end of the commercial.)

Some people on here seemed fooled and took it seriously, so it worked lol. I knew what it was from the start. If it isn't all over the news, it isn't real.
