unemployment...
« on: December 03, 2008, 11:26:26 PM »
well i've seen all this stuff in the news, and on tv,many of my freinds can't get jobs.
So my question is this. HOW HARD IS IT TO GET A JOB WHERE YOU LIVE, AND HOW MANY PEOPLE THAT YOU KNOW DO NOT HAVE JOBS?
 :-??

It's hard here. A small town with a lot of people and not much stores or businesses. I've been searching for my 2nd job but so far, nothing.

Well I got into Kroger without taking any effort. I also got out while actually doing the effort (ignorant store manager) o_O

It seems pretty easy to find a job here. They're hiring at the Target here with walk-in interviews, they must be desperate. I just haven't bothered to try yet.

I CAN get a job... because I have a friend with connections at my local places like Jewel & Food4Less... but dam... I hear they work your @$$ off nowadays at most of those places... so I'm reluctant to EVEN APPLY! :o

I mean literally... you barely have time to take a p1$$ without your boss shouting at you... I'm like.. DAM! :o

eh, I just got a few new jobs. I do photography, so this is the time of year i get tons of calls from my friends who want their infants' pictures taken for Christmas cards.

Getting a job isn't too difficult, you just need a skill. There's a million people looking for jobs at wal mart, mickie d's, and foot locker. Of course it's hard to get a job at those places. Learn to do something they can't do.

Learn a skill or trade, get fully paid. College or technical school FTW.

I mean... I feel your guys' pain... I was looking for a job for a year... finally I got one last month... I'm working for my granpa now... and I'm starting to think he's basically just using me to get the job done with less being paid towards me...

Here's what I mean... I work 8 hours okay... 5 days a f'n week... and my pay is half of $100... that's right $50 a week for well.. actually we get out 2 hours early on friday... but that's not the point... so... I'm definitely looking for a new job soon.. but it really is that hard... I mean... I can't even get into Jewel... I'm like... wtf!

50 bucks a week?that's nothing dude, you're being ripped off badly

I'm currently working at a call center, and boy that is really hell:i know it's not even 6 hours a day,5 days a week, but the stress that you get for doing that kind of job is at least the double than of a standard job...even at Mc Donalds you get more than 15 minutes of break(right?)  \-/o

I hate my job a lot,so i'm starting to look for something else that fits my profile, however it's indeed complicated
Moreover, with the global crisis that is coming, you might have to worry more to keep the job you have now instead of getting a new one, because that might happen sooner than expected, and you won't even see it coming @-)

Yeah, it's pretty ugly out there right now. I've got a decent job, but it looks like the company I work for may not be able to last more than another couple of months. I've started looking, but most of the jobs I'm seeing near me either don't pay enough for me to pay my bills, or they want someone with a PhD. Things might suck around here for awhile....

SO BADLY is more like it... I'm going to eventually be quitting... I just want to have another job BEFORE quitting... so I'm not making $0 a week, ya know... ;*)) I just applied for FULL TIME at Jewel earlier tonight... and since I'm heading up to Hollywood Video tomorrow... I'm applying tomorrow morning BEFORE going to work... Then, if they don't work out.. I'll be applying for KFC & Wendy's... and if I get NO INTERVIEWS... uh... yeah... I'm just quitting the work force for a while... not getting a job at Wendy's just means you're fuked... ;*))

I haven't had a job for a full year now. I have looked on and off, but it's just stupid right now. None of my bud's that's been trying to get a job have been successfully either. Lost my job at Wal-Mart a year ago (after working a full year) b/c I was trying to do 2 things at once and couldn't get to the other one (stupid managers....), and walked out of the my one over at Meijer's (lasted a whole 9 days over 4 weeks.....2 days a week, save for one day of 3 days worth of work....), due to them screwing me over, saying "I was working fast enough" when they didn't even give me any training.....

Still looking for a Job right now.Applied online,in person I was looking for 2 years then I finally got a job one year back at Family Dollar and lost it due to the stupid economy.Yeah they laid me off telling me they didn't need me and I was getting less and less hours. Now my friends are suffering the same fate especially my best friend. He's getting at least 0 to 2 days a week. And less than $50.00 each week.Plus he lost his home and is living with his grandma.

Yeah we're in tough dire times ppl.But there's always hope guys.Plus Obama being president there's definetly hope.

However it's tough to be hopeful when you fear the bills and losing your home due to having no job. *Iceman ThumbsDown!*

That's pretty much true. Tis probably the ONLY reason I got my 2 jobs.....one was through a friend of mine, and the other was b/c someone I knew knew the hiring manager...
