Yeah, with gold mode enabled, the only way for me to block is by parrying.

See NeoKamek`s readme for an answer 
He stated that "because everybody loves pokemon" and Besides he didn`t have the time/didn`t feel like making sprites for mario related characters like lakitu

cuz ive been looking for more characters like tetsu and ive been failing XD
