Does anyone notice that Capcom makes worse stages...
« on: April 10, 2008, 11:51:48 AM »
as they make more iterations of a franchise? For example, I like the stages of SFA 2 better than the ones in SFA 3, the stages of Darkstalkers 1 and 2 better than the one in Darkstalkers 3, and the stages of MvC than the ones in MvC2. And of course who can forget Third Strike and New Generation. I think when they make the sequel they just get lazy and don't want to make quality stages. I mean even the music gets worse. And some characters even share stages like in Darkstalkers 3 and Third Strike. I wish they would've focused on everything at once like they did when they first started up the franchises.

You say crap cause you don't like Jazz, you hater.

I'm humming MvC2 all the damn day long! SF3 got "Crunk Soul Power".

You need to stop with the hate crimes. Don't be mad cause the funk stacks paper to the ceiling, AND gets mad bi***es.

Yo you cant diss infinite like that, he had to keep it explicit(Or ummm... unexcplicit?)! He's a pretty decent rapper, that and he's Canadian, lol! I like SF3 Music and MVC2 and CVS2, those where all kick @$$, and as for the stages, I think they do get lazy every new game,  but CVS2 stages where better than 1, and same goes for MVC2, IMO!

I personally think Rap, Jazz, or Pop shouldn't be anywhere near fighting video games. Certainly Rock, but the majority of the music should be generic Videogame music.

Why? Rock fits fighting more than anything,I'm sorry but smooth Hip Hop/R@B/Jazz whatever you wanna call it,doesn't fit.Fighting is a very fast paced, angry, adrenaline filled thing....like Rock music. Rock has hard Guitars and a fast sound that simulates action IMO perfect for Fighting games.Look at Guilty Gear it's soft Metal and Hardcore Rock Soundtrack goes very well with the game.

I liked the stages in all capcom games. Except for Chun-li's SFIII stage.

Some heavy metal sucks, but you are right about the jazz. I think the music should match the character and his style along with the stage.

also, I don't mind the music, but it doesn't fit with a fighting game.

Well, that's decided, all future Infinity game releases will only have either Bebop or HipHop soundtracks. Or Hiphop with Bebop riffs sampled in.

For those that say rap doesn't make for good fighting game music, all I'll say is Def Jam Vandetta and Wu Tang: Shaolin Style.
Punctuation and capitalization can make the difference between "I helped my uncle, Jack, off a horse," and, "I helped my uncle jack off a horse."

92% of people have moved onto rap. If you're part of the 8% who thinks rap isn't music, sucks to be you.

Most newer stuff sucks, though.

Exactly.
The old fight-y toons in SF2, SFA-3, and MvC are way better then what came after it.

I'm sorry, but some of the music in MvC2 and CvS2 sound like porn music.  :D

Especially the song "This is true Love Makin" in the CvS2 london stage.

The music in SF4 should be better since it's supposedly concentrating on a SF2-SFA feel.

Not "hatin" on Aaron for those of you that like to say/think that kinda thing...

:Boondocks Vid:
Of course it works right there b/c it is a moment of pride for the main characters and that is their theme music. Thats another media tho. And the whole show is geared around hip-hop so its expected unless a change of situation occurs. Its like if you were watchin Sienfeld or somethin, you wouldnt hear hip-hop until they went to the hood or had an issue with a radio show. Whatever works...

I and maybe those that agreed before, were debating the types of music for fighting vg's, like orchestra-rock-house-techno, that get you amped up to fight.

Just to make it short. You never hear jazz, r&b, classical, slow jams or country during boxing, mma or wrestling do you? NO. You wanna hear/play something that is gonna get/keep everyone gassed up. Somethin with a lotta spark and momentum.

:Back on Rap:
Crunk is the only exception but its obvious as to why that is.

Personally I like drum and bass music in fighting games. That, or rock. I've never seen anything wrong with the SF3 music though. In terms of stages, I do think Capcom gets lazier sometimes. In SF3 Second Impact (or Giant Impact or whatever its called) the stages are awesome. Yun/Yang's stage in that game looked kinda like Chun-Li's stage in the SF4 vids. Then in Third Strike they changed it.

I thought the music in the SF3 series was incredible. It was perfect for a 2D fighter.

And the whole show is geared around hip-hop

Ehh, no it's not. It has some hip-hop related plot points, but it's a black satire type of show.

When you say "Geared" around hip-hop, it sounded like you talked about the show itself being like that, not the music.
