Anyone ever play a game that got hard out of NOWHERE?

I was just playing Chrono Trigger on my psp and it got me thinking about some other RPGs I've played. A while back I downloaded the iso of Crimson Gem Saga for psp. I heard it was a basic, but good RPG for PSP so I figured I'd like it. At first it was great. I didn't even mind doing hours of grinding. But then later into the game I noticed something. For some reason the enemies just started getting WAAAAAAY too strong. Normal enemies where killing my party members in two hits. It was so ridiculous. After a while I just stopped playing it. I might go back to it someday. Maybe I'll be better prepared since now I know that it gets hard out of nowhere, .

Another game like this is Dragon Quest VIII. I barrowed it from a friend but I was barely able to play it. At the beginning of the game you only have like 10 hp. The monsters do like 4 damage per hit.  So evil.....

Yup that is what makes games really interesting. I hate most of games nowadays because im the type of person who usually beats an entire game in one sitting. Games used to be extremely hard so even if you were really good at games it would take hours and hours + frustration to beat them. Now a days if you have any experience with games one sitting is all you need to beat the game. Plus games now  a days are way to short. $60 for a 4-6 hour game is not worth it. So yea... thats my stand point on games.

totally agreed. Thats y i but only RPG's and First person shooters like COD. Maybe a racing game from time to time

I don't really mind short games to be honestly. As long as the games good then I don't mind. Unless its TOO short. God of War for psp is so over-rated. I beat it almost effotlessly in a little under 5 hours. People that consider that to be the best psp game really havn't played enough PSP games.

Thats half ture in my world. Ill play a game and if it good some times i can cope with that if its a psp or ds game but any big system no. You spend 60 bucks so the next day you can finshed it    no. Thats a rip.

Games are like this because they try to target thos who are not gamers. I missed the days of 4 disked games and 50 million level nes games.

I just thought of another game. Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction. Its not really a hard game at all, but some of the enemies later in the game do lots of damage. If you're not careful you can die really fast. Happened to me a few times, .

Well I haven't played games that suddenly got hard. but I have played games that are hard from the get-to
just to become ball-bustingly hard later on.
that counts right?

those are the same games that got hard out of nowhere for me too. but it hink it was xenosaga 1. i was able to get by the levels in the game until this one impossible boss battle with a black version of those tall thin alien things. my team was destroyed even using those AGWS. god hand gets really tough especially when those blue trident using monsters start to show up in the game

after a few runs in the game. God Hand eventually gets borishly easy...

Contra 4 for DS...i still have some trouble getting past level 1 without losing my lives(and in hard,i can barely reach level 2)

Speaking of God Hand, I got it on my birthday but I only played it twice. I really have to play that game more. Its hard, but makes up for it by being entertaining as hell.

also the game is better each time through because you get better, and you un-lock a ton stuff the first time you beat it.


here is a HUGE tip I realized recently.

The Casino is you're friend.
once you get enough money, go to the High Rollers room. xD so much money
I bought all the "God" Techniques.
oh that's another thing, buy all the health/move slot up-grades.
you're dead without them.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma.  And I expected that game to be difficult.
