SpRiTe Of ThE wEeK cOnTeSt #6 Theme
« on: February 16, 2009, 02:25:55 PM »
All submissions must have all your work . If you enter a submission with a background . You have to sprite the entire background .

The winner gave me 3 good choices . It was tough for me too decide which one . I went with what I thought a lot of people would enter . I hope to see an entry from Scar this week  ;)

Week #6's theme is .....

" Trumpets sound "

80's cartoon Mania

Make Anything from an 80's cartoon . GI Joe , Thundercat's , Scrappy Doo , Smurfs etc ....

Here's a good website to check for all the 80's cartoons alphabetized . Just look in the cartoon index .

http://www.80scartoons.net/

I will verify that your submission was an 80's cartoon . So make sure it is , or it will not be submitted .

Anyway there you have it , good luck to you all . Same deal , PM me your submissions . Please try to remove the backgrounds yourself & also let me know what series your submission is from in the PM .

Thanx

Yeah, I probably won't enter, since my submission would be fairly obvious.

Just make a sprite that wouldn't be so obvious

No can do. I'm only obsessed about one '80s animation series, and besides, I need to finish my award-winning novel.

Coincidentally, the novel has various inspirations, including that of an author who died in 1986, and whose novel got turned into a movie in 1985. But it's mainly inspired by role playing games. And I believe the first Final Fantasy came out in the '80s, and the role playing video game on which it was inspired, Dragon Quest, was also released in the '80s.

/:O GaryCXJk what the heck man, you were the one that wanted more toon's to sprite. Now you get two weeks in a row and you are upset last week and saying you aren't going to enter this week. You say you are obsessed with 80's stuff, you must not know as much as you think because there are so many toon shows to pick from, how the heck would anyone know what you enter?
I am hoping for a good turn out. Good luck everyone.

I have no idea what 80's animation Gary is obsessed with . So I wouldn't guess it .

Now DanoArtist on the other hand ....

Your submission better not be a He-man character :DxDie

If we were going to submit stuf from our thread, Danton would submit He-Man and I would submit Skeletor.
Our sprites would fight, and ruin half of eternia in an epic battle, thus runing the contest.

Well, if you really want me to enter, sure. But I do have to say, '80s toons are not really my thing, due to the nature of the character designs of most. And since the more interesting '80s toons involve animals, it won't be pretty. I can still remember my last attempt at doing an animal. Wish I hadn't.

So you couldnt draw

Gi Joes or Cobra's
He-Men
Voltron
Robotech
Space Ghost
The Wonder Twins
Mr. T
Silver Hawks
Thundercats
Cops
TMNT
Transformers
Blue Falcon
Chuck Norris Karate Commandos

I mean 8/10 properties today are from 80's toons which were all based on toy, and comic lines. Gen-X has taken over entertainment these days. This is the easiest possible category ever. :-??

OK I screwed up . I was trying to get things ready for the comp at work & I accidentally posted someone's sprite in one of my posts , instead of my Medieval Spawn because I pasted that link instead . It's not there now , but people may have seen it before the comp . So what do I do about it ? here's some good choices .

A ) That sprite has to be disqualified & I sincerely apologize to the creator

B ) Everything should go as usual because not many people seen it & no one knows who made it anyway

C ) I should quit running this contest & hand it over to someone more competent & possibly consider suicide

D ) For my stupidity , I should give the creator my Wolvenom beta early to test out

OHHHHHH that. Yes I saw that. I thought you did it at first. I wont say what it is.
Ive done that before myself. (not with contest sprites but posting the wrong image or link when you thought you coppyed the new one)

Depending on who it is and/or how meny people have seen it
B or D

I shurly hope the secret preview wont affect people's voting...

B, ofcourse. If no one knows who made it, what's the harm.? Don't think many saw it anyways, know I didn't. Unless you wanna really be generous and go with D, but that's only if you trust the person. :)

Disqualifying someone in a content that is meant to be fun based on mistake doesn't seem right.

Mistakes happen, and this isn't really of any serious magnitude.

OK , guys thanx to those that responded . I already spoke with the creator & he is fine with whatever decision I come to .

I usually prepare the comp post before midnight & have everything ready to go . So I can just copy & paste everything out of a text file . Because I have to take all the sprites , rename them & put them in my photobucket . Or else someone could just quote the comp & see the link & figure out who made what sprite . If they come from my photobucket they all have www  .photobucket  com/DARKTALBAIN/ etc ....
No one figures out anything .

Anyway I must have been copying the links into the text file . Then in between I posted , & thinking mt Medieval Spawn sprite is copied like it usually is . I just pasted it in . Unfortunately it was one of the contestants sprites instead .

I do not think the preview will effect the votes at all & I don't think many people seen it since I only received a few PM's .

Sorry guys , I'm not perfect & I had a lot going on at work .

Now you can't enter it, since you just announced what you did. It's suppose to be anonymous who made what.. If you'd still like to try and submit your sprite to darktalbain, go ahead and PM him your sprite.
