Everyone one loves this Anime, Manga, and now everyone has these Japanese letters in their names. I just never got why Japanese stuff is so hot.

I'm quater Japanese so I love my oriental background. I'm not an anime fan, but I like everything else though.

Im not a heavy anime follower but i do prefer it to other cartoons. the movies/episodes are more creative and are put together better artisticly. It really depends on what you watch though. Im not one for the Naruto, Inuyasha, Ranma 1 1/2 type of anime. And im definately not and Anime18 freak. It just has more relevance and substance in comparison to disney, cartoon network, pixar & other 3rd world countries (im in US).

If you're referring to everything that was made by Japan, then it's simply because they're more advanced than almost everyone else.

Well...consider that if there`s no japanese stuff,then we wouldn`t have videogame companies like Capcom making cool games,or we wouldn`t ever have "It`s over 9000" vids in youtube as a parody of a bad dubbed version...as we wouldn`t have half of the stuff most of us watch,altough i don`t watch anime a lot.
I honestly like watching some anime series,but online if it sounds interesting or i watched it and said "that was cool"(that`s how i started to watch DBZ years ago)

because they got more years of experience anime/cartoon wise and comic/manga also but if your talking about saki it's supposed to be like that.

It's because characters in an anime series say and do things that American cartoonists smite and regard as "inappropriate for children".

When you watch the subbed versions of anime, you learn that the characters talk more hardcore and even cuss in certain situations. American Cartoons are more aimed at pleasing little kids.
Anime targets teens and even adults (hentai anyone?

).

For example:

DBZ (American Edit)

Goku: You monster! How could you do this!?! Darn you!!!
Freeza: Hah hah hah! You pathetic monkey!

DBZ (Translated Japanese)

Goku: You son of a bee-otch! Why them!?! Damn you!
Freeza: Hah hah hah! You'll soon join them, you worthless pile of sh*t!

Japanese cartoonists aren't afraid to resort to harsh language and a little violence to get their points across in a cartoon.
Our American cartoonists severely lack that quality that sets the stage for boring and unexciting cartoons made for children under the age of 10.

. I heard they made Teia's skirt longer in the dub of Yu Gi Oh because in Japan it's more adult oriented.
I mean damn. In Yu Gi Oh the dub, Teia's skirt is short as hell. The original Teia skirt design must be next to non-existent.

! and the worst part is that i watched the entire Yugioh first series,and i didn`t know that

And yes,i noticed that the dubs end up CENSORING stuff their consider "unappropiate" for their audience...
Recently i watch a Yugioh GX episode subbed where one of the bad guys was brainwashed by his boss and due to that he killed himself by falling off of a tower(just showed him falling)
In the dubbed version,that scene was heaviliy edited,as well as how that guy`s kid died(illness in dub,hit by a car in original)
And i heard also they censored DBZ in the freeza saga(Freeza goes through Krillin with his horn,then he gets healed but you can tell he got injured as his armor has a hole on it!)

I'm not sure if there is a reason per se. I think for what ever reason, a lot of the stories, art, etc. of the Japanese culture just ended up connecting to many people. Everyone has different tasts and different things, so some people will enjoy Japanese shows, games and comics, others will not.

My user name (Matsutzu) is a play on a Japanese word, and all of the characters I have sprite edited (WereGaruumon, Aeris, and right now DekaMaster) all hail from Japan too. I'm also learning the Japanese langauge. A reason why I like these things, I'm at a loss to say. I guess I just do.

uhh not sure in terms of anime, a cartoon is a cartoon to me both western and otherwise can suck or rock the same amount. i think it's the same as some of the japanese thought of how cool america is, to us its just the country we live nothing out of the norm while they obviously see something else.

I have a hypothesis towards Anime and Manga: The Western side of the world has been dominated by Mickey Mouse, Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, etc. for nearly 60 years. And it was always the same kind of stories: Little talking animals living in their own happy world in Disneyworld , and guys with superpowers and big muscles who acted the same story all over again: Bad guy arrives and raises hell, hero says "I must save the world! Villain! Take my (insert trademark character attack you like, e.g.: Bat-boomerangs, Spider-web, Heat Vision)!"

And then we get Dragon Ball, Pokémon, samurai-time stories and sport stories (Captain Tsubasa, Slam Dunk) which give the animation/comics environment some fresh air. Not to mention Nintendo/Sega videogames in opposition to Atari, ColecoVision and Commodore home consoles. Can anyone resist?

Well, not in my case... and I'm proud of it.
