My little MKA mugen project
« on: February 05, 2009, 12:59:04 AM »
Here is what I have done so far:

The FULL mka intro is done (too lazy to record a video), and fixed, select screen and screenpack are almost done:

Animated MK select screen with liu kang and shang tsung
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xoHwTzHjyhk#noexternalembed

Well I decided to make non animated backgrounds because of perfectionists who wont like the idea of overlapping menu items like the video above. :P

hey, seams to be very nice? Are you extracting the models from the original game?

there is any video of a fight?

looks very nice...select screen is simple yet effective
you should be making the pics in the menu change depending on the option you are(i believe it's possible)

Not bad so far, but you should try to re-align the sprites a little bit. Right now, it looks like Scorpion is floating. I know it might not be possible to get it to look perfect, since you're using 3D models, but I'd play with it a little more. You'll probably end up with the shadow misaligned a bit behind his front foot, but it still might look better. Just my $.02.

Otherwise, this is showing a lot of potential! Good luck!

YAY for constructive criticism, well the floating issue is easy to resolve, as you said they are 3D sprites in 2D stages, when I make my own stages i will not allow the shadows to be cast, and the chars will fit well in stages ripped from the game. :)

You're doing an awesome job getting the animations, keep it up! :)
I also did some MKA sound rips, look in the open source section.

I think that you could add an anim, that changes from image to image... just like the sky floating in the MUGEN default SP. You should use as well some transparencies to give a good dissolve effect from pic to pic, so it will not look like a PowerPoint usual presentation.

See you.

I don't think you can remove the shadows just to fix the alignment problems sorry...
I mean, even if you remove them, see where scorpion stands? He is still going to look like he is walking on that wall besides the stairs when he moves.
It's not too hard to just lower the sprites down like a small bit.

as per above comments.

if you are using your own custom 3-d models, good job!

does the program you are using have 2-d rendering abilities? that might help the look.

also, take a look at deman's street fighter characters, and how he sets up his sff, having each part of the 3d model seperated and then layering the character into one sprite, it'll make your sprites look ALOT less blurry and pixelated.

It's starting to look good. You should put the character portraits in the space in the area at the bottom of the select screen.

Wow, so what did you do to get the sprites?

Looks very promissing.

Basically, he recorded video from Mortal Kombat Armageddon, then painstakingly cut out the background around the characters for every frame, then put it in MUGEN. One would think it'd take forever, but with how frequently Ade updates...  ;D

Your kidding right? That does sound like it could be quite time consuming
