Character SND problem...
« on: July 01, 2008, 03:16:26 AM »
Okay, so... I've been lurking for quite a while, but I have a problem once again...  \-/o
I tried to add a sound file to the SND file of a character I've been working on for quite some time, and I think I put the code in right, because the sound plays when my character dashes, except... the sound that's playing is not exactly the sound i want it to be playing.... I don't understand why, but instead of the sloshing goop noise Blackheart makes when he dashes, I hear this really annoying groan, almost like nails on a chalkboard.  /:O I looked around for a similar post, and I couldn't find one, but... if anyone knows what I'm doing wrong and/or how to correct it, I'd greatly appreciate any assistance! =] Please and thanks!

Make sure you have the right values for the sound and make sure the value you gave to the sound you added wasn't already taken.

hmm. I don't think the latter is a problem because the character only has one sound, that one...
I was trying to analyze the sound files of characters and it seemed like the group and snd number don't have to be specific for an action, I looked at Blackjack, for example, and many of his sounds are just group 0 and then a number. =/ Am I wrong? Do they have to have a specific group and sound number?

My first thought is that two sounds in your SND file have the same numbers assigned to them so even though you're referencing the correct number in the CNS file, there is a second sound in the SND file that has that same number.

I realized that by holding the forward button down, which keeps my character dashing, it ends up playing the sound over and over again, apparently, because if i hold the button just long enough, sometimes I can hear the sloshing noise that I should be hearing... Is there any way for me to get the sound to play just once? instead of continually as long as I hold the dash button down?

Wow... I can't believe I missed that... I didn't think that that was in my template, but yes, there's a Snd that's matched to the group that I had placed my sound file in... Wow. Thank you!  :)
It's 4 AM... so... when I wake up later I'll see if everything goes by without a hitch. Thank you again for the assistance!
Yeah... even though I changed the group and SND number to something that had nothing, it's giving me the same problem. As long as I hold the forward button down, the sound keeps starting over and over. Not a happy noise, either...  :-w

At first I thought that was an emote, but then I realized it was a code, hahaha... I used that, but it didn't help me...  >:P The same problem still persists...
