Emulating Dreamcast With Chankast .25

Get Chankast .25 here: http://www.chanka.org/

Step 1:First make sure you have Alcohol 120% or Daemon Tools installed for mounting the Rom image.

Step 2:Aquire both Bios files DC_Bios.bin and DC_Flash.bin. Paste these under the main directory for Chankast. www.google.com for those.

Step 3:Run Chankast. Go to Options. Configure your Virtual Drive.

Step 4:Now that your Virtual Drive is set, Run the Emulator. Let it drop back to the Dreamcast Dashboard and select File. Once in File delete the red x.

Step 5:Exit Chankast. Mount your image. Then go to run in Chankast.

Some other things you should know, is that any Capcom game needs the Capcom hack.

To get some extra Frames Enable the Higher Priority Option.(This can make certain games crash like Sonic Adventure.)

Also for extra Frames you can hit the - and + buttons to Decrease or Increase Frames.

Lastly, if a game gives you the following message:

Then you must change the AV Cable type in Options like so:

It will probably run kind of wierd with the NTSC Cable type but its better than nothing.

If you want to save your game you must first write the vms file using the "vms browser" then exit and run the emulator. After you get to the dreamcast start up screen go to "file" and delete everything on the selected vmu. Set your personal settings and it's good to go.

If you have to download the games. Use google and torrents.

if you run a game from an iso image, make sure it is self bootable.

wow its really that easy? about 2 years ago i tried to get this working and after 3 days of failing i just junked it. i had everything i needed too inc virtural on ontario tangram. d'oh.

That's cool. I found out about Chankast in other web.
Mine works, but the only problem that I have is graphics. I learned that to play Chankast, we need the good graphic card. Next Thanksgiving, I have a chance to see one of my friends, and I will install Chankast in his computer, and hopefully his computer doesn't have intel.

That`s weird...it worked fine last time i did exactly the same procedure...the only thing i didn`t change was the vga part(left as default)
i have a question:is there any way to save game with Chankast?i don`t know how to use the memory card soft...

You don't know how to set configure pad?
If you go to option, you can do that. Ummm, I think you got different chankast.
I had that one while ago, and now I have different one (chankast EX).
That one shows a picture of the controller, so it's easy to fix it.

btw, over thanksgiving, I used my friend's computer (desktop), and chankast worked well on his!

I guess I need to buy a good computer with a good graphic card.
