For a minute I thought you meant a mod that allowed the creation of almost 3D stages, like from the Kirby game for the 64.

Well there are a few stages like that, like the Umbrella Labs stage that got released a few weeks ago.

Ooh, care to show?

What I'm referring to are stages like this:

See how the stage rotates?  That'd be cool for MUGEN 1.0.

I've seen the Beat em up Mugen a few years back. Not something new. I've seen it. And I would agree with Luigi-Master for the 3D stage. And of course, it would be better for the 3D Mugen.

No nothing like that cool turning automatically thing, sorry, just 3D looking using.

I didn't know you meant that, would be cool if someone would.

I guess just a sort of beat up game idea for MUGEN.
I think it could be good if used right though.

(The stage I was talking about above uses some kind of trick to make bg objects appear perfectly 3D, completely different)

...Amazing.   /:O  How saddening it is that the thread only has two comments.  It deserves more.

Is this a feature of 1.0?

Its not a feature of 1.0, its a trick.

Many time ago, I remember a guy who made a background where mario move the head to follow your char, using the same trick.

The trick is quite simple, but hard to use: Its a very high delta value, where he exchange the images.

For each "movement" of the bg, there is a image. You just need to find the right delta value and, because its too high, the imagem moves too fast to your eyes to follow, giving the 3D look

Man, that sounds like a sweet trick.

So basically, it makes the image change its sprite depending on the position of the characters, right?

Makes me glad we have veterans like you around.  So many cool things that are hidden within this engine.

Just like how 3d stereoscopic gifs work. Two slightly different frames moving back and forth rapidly produces the same effect.

Actually the character code necessary to create this "beat 'em up" effect is nothing new, it's similiar to what I used on Green Goblin for the freedom of motion.

My only question is how do they punch past each other? See how if KFM is above the other one in perspective but his fist still technically 'touches' the other sprite it still doesn't hit him.

Actually, no.

It's more like, the images move at such a high speed it actually immediately shows a different image when the screen shifts just one pixel.

You can see how it works on my MUGEN stage if you want, it's open source anyway.

[Download]

It contains the stripped down version.

Meh, I'll need to modify everything at the moment to make it 1.0 compatible...

Because, It's Midnite

Hey, wasn't expecting ya here.  Nice to see you again.

Whoah, that certainly does look impressive.  I should download the stage myself.
