Mugen Crash Issues
« on: March 15, 2009, 04:35:08 PM »
Okay, I have not been able to get an answer to this on other sites. I have a problem. Every time I start a game in team mode, some time during the game in round 2 of a random match, the music stops and a couple of seconds later, the game crashes. No error message or nothing. I tried different characters. I tried different screenpacks. I tried different sound plugins. I tried lo-res and hi-res Mugen. Nothing works. I still have the crash issue.

Two things I have noticed.

-This ONLY happens in round 2.
-This does NOT happen if I do Simul in survival mode.

Anyone know how to fix this?

the ones you get when you download mugen. i'm using midi files cause they dont cause crashes and they repeat when the song is over.

this sounds like a plugin issue.

A lot of people use in_mp3.dll

if that doesn't work, try in_mp3PRO.dll

here's how I have mine setup in the mugen.cfg file:

plugin = looptype = 1,plugins/in_mp3PRO.dll, mp3, mp2, mpg

I've tried all of that. Here's what I know...

It's not the music files (.mp3's work just fine)

It's not the music plug-ins. (.ogg doesn't work. I used in_mad150, in_mad150b, in_mp3 and in_mad mp3PRO. Some work better than others, but that's not the problem.

I think I'm using in_mad150b right now, but the program ONLY crashes in TEAM or TEAM ARCADE mode.

I've used several different screenpacks, and I've downloaded and re-downloaded hi-res and lo-res mugen several times...and it still crashes! ~X(

Maybe it's just your video card or your processor speed.  :-??

It could be a lot of thins... maybe an issue with your memory ram........also it can be an issue with some chars...or stages.........the only way to find out its trial and error

It might be the video card or processor, but if that were the case, then it would also happen in simul in watch mode, and it's not. I'm not sure about team vs mode. There's no one else around, so I can't test it. The characters I use doesn't matter. I don't have another computer to test it with.

I got exactly the same problem ,
just try to run MUGEN in team arcade or Team Coop ,
when Round 2 begins , music stops ,
the screen get black , and Mugen crashes.

I use Winmugen Lo res , and my cfg is :

plugin = looptype=1, plugins/in_mp3.dll, mp3, mp2, mpg
plugin = plugins/in_vorbis.dll, ogg
plugin = plugins/in_adx.dll, adx

I use .mp3 files , ogg files don't work .

Thanks in advance

Yeah...that describes my problem exactly. The only thing I've found is that it doesn't matter whether you use lo-res or hi-res Mugen. The same thing happens. ~X(

he last thing is reinstaling your O.S

Ok thanks I will try this ,
and also , do you think it could be a problem of RAM memory ?
because my RAM memory was not big so I made my mugen game
(350 chars for 345 stages) many mini mugen :

I made copies of my select.def (including 110 chars and the 345 stages)
but I get the same problem of Team mode crashing , and the error 0xc0000005 message ...
could it be a conflict between two programs (Mugen and one another)?

only if you are chating ,burning and downloading something in sametime you are playing with your mugen ,you said that not have many ram think this:
mugen open and then load the logo,intro and all screenpack pakage with include all the character portraits and stage names so with those the ram use is semi absolute then you choose simultaneus mode in survival that means 2 full characters on your side and 2 characters randomized in other side on each round
so maybe when you come to 2nd round the ram is full and mugen crash by the continuos char loading

try making a select with 10 characters and 10 stages if every still good increase the number of entyties to the point that not crashed the game

Thanks Dakangel ! :)

So , I disabled the Logo and Intro for MUGEN ,
but i think you are right too much chars and stages for my low RAM memory
adding this the intro and ending of each char with a different mp3 for each one
too heavy for the RAM memory that crashing MUGEN ...

I tried your idea to put 10 chars with 10 stages without disabling chars intro and ending ,
that works fine , sometimes it crashes but that's the regular crash issue that we all know.

My problem was just about a too heavy MUGEN for such a low RAM memory .
Thanks again for your help Dakangel ! :w00t:

It doesn't crash in SIMUL survival mode. It only crashes in TEAM ARCADE mode. (Don't know about Team co-op. I have no one to play with.) I'm not sure if the number of characters would have anything to do with it. I have 1200+ characters and 500+ stages with 768 MB RAM running Windows Vista Ultimate.

Re: Mugen Crash Issues

certainly the same thing , bro ,
1200 chars = 1200 intro (maybe) + 1200 endings (maybe) + 2400 mp3 (maybe)
500 stages = 500 mp3 too ,
so MUGEN loads all chars and all stages ,
and when you fight on team MUGEN manage the stage the sounds the music and
4 players at the same time ,
you may try to make a select.def including only 10 chars and 10 stages ,
if it crashes (with the music stopping at Round2 )
it may be your plugins or the sound configuration in mugen.cfg ,
if it doesn't crash this way it may be a RAM memory problem ,
your MUGEN may be too big (that's what it was for me , my PC gets old and the RAM memory is low .
