can i have a tutorial for killing the background color?

okay, i want to start making character.. ummm finishing my MegaMan X will be alright but..
his background color is purple how can i kill that? ive tried many tutorials and movies but i cant even copy what they're doing

im saying when i saved the sprites in 256.bitmap.. and how to kill the purple? in fighterfactory?
anyone can give a movie? or a tutorial i will definitely accept it...
