Colors and GIMP (now with fighter factory problems!)
« on: August 25, 2007, 02:04:17 AM »
Never mind i figured out what i was doing wrong. XD||

Ok so apprently im susposted to save my images in 256 colors.
Im using Gimp, its the only art program i have (it was free)
Now seeing as im a cheep bastard and dont want to shell out cash for paint shop pro or photoshop like i hear everyone uses, are there ways with GIMP to make sure its 256? Or do formats like .pcx and .png automaticly do that for you?
Theres no help files and the gimp website is useless.

Or is my sudden bit of worrying useless and im fine...?

Heres a new probelm.
So ive got all the images in index mode on 256.
So i open fighter factory, ad the first image in, it didnt show so i opened pallet mode and added the colors into the pallet. Then the first image shows up perfictly.
Now i go to add image 2, and it comes up all weird looking.
So i open the pallet file and compare the pal for image one to image to, and it uses the same colors, there just in differnt spots on the pallet file.
I tryed to just recolor the second image using the colors from image 1 but it wouldnt work....

Also every time i add a sprite it says the image couldnt load correctly, and it also opens the image in gimp.
I cant find a tutorial that covers this problem.
Should i just get a new artprogram and be done with it, or what? I dont want to give up on making this character

Index wasnt there before and or i couldnt get to it and i ended up making sure my version was the latest unglitched version.
